I do find it hilariously funny reading some of these negative comments.

Losing our first game 3-0 is naturally going to spark debate among fans on a platform specifically designed to promote debate. It doesn’t make us bad fans. Interestingly, Danny Kelly on tonight’s show questioned PV’s decision to call for more signings. It wasn’t that he disagreed with ‘Pat’ that more players were needed, but that he came out and said so publicly.

I think we need to cut PV a bit of slack, it was his first game, and against the European champions so no real shame in a defeat. A few lessons that I think were pretty clear: Against the top teams we need to set up differently. Wilf doesn’t get enough of the ball upfront, and a midfield of 2 gets overrun. I don’t want us to play for a stalemate, but against the best I’d like to see Wilf on the wing, and Ayew (Eze when fit) sat in behind Benteke to help the midfield boys out). I wouldn’t even be adverse to 3 CB’s to give us a more solid base. Ayew is a good player, but he needs to play centrally. He offers very little on the wing. Wilf might get slightly more goals upfront, but he’s just not a striker. He is at his best when he has space to run into and can take people on. Playing with back to goal doesn’t really give him the chance to do that very often. He is vitally important to help with the transition. Mateta isn’t really showing us much at the min, not an easy game for him, but still isn’t making any real meaningful contributions. Jairo still hasn’t convinced me that he has the energy to be a CM in the prem. He always seams to be slightly off the pace. Needs runners around him to help him out. Not sure I agree here. When was the last time Wilf took on a decent defender 1v1 and beat them? He more often turns around and passes it back these days. He's lost pace and he knows it. What he can do is a piece of skill or a nice touch to give him the space to shoot. So for me, he's worth persisting with up front.

What PV said was irresponsible unless he knows that the Club is close to signing someone OR at least that Dougie and Steve are serious enough about it to be willing to trade, say, Wilf. Would a club like Nice, say, agree to give us Dolberg provided we give them Wilf? Perhaps both clubs would be better off. (I say this as a big fan of Wilf's, yet one who worries that he may not remain happy and productive here.)

I think PV said a couple of interesting things at the weekend. Both of which he's perfectly entitled to say, and both of which I think are accurate. The first being that the young players that he named in the squad on Saturday aren't ready for that level of football yet on a regular basis. Second being the need to sign more players - that are ready and can immediately compete at Premier League level.

Viera answered questions with honesty and sincerity and never resorted to bland platitudes. Exceedingly refreshing.I tip my hat.

PV wasn't asked about the make up of the squad, he was asked specifically about the team's performance, he instead said that new players were still needed - he could have been more tactful and mentioned that many of the new buys (and others like Eze) were unavailable or not up to speed fitness wise. So I'd agree with Danny Kelly that it was strange to emphasise lack of players when PV has been so well backed so far. There is a strong suggestion in his words that the players he has can't play the way he thinks the game should be played. I didn't seem the game but Simon Jordan tried to be diplomatic on Talksport yesterday but gave his honest view that it was the worst performance he'd seen in years from a Palace side, we lacked quality, effort and ambition acc to SJ. I'll be backing PV all the way - he needs to be given till Christmas before he is seriously judged imho, but I was a little perturbed by his comments.

In my humble opinion he was highlighting what we supporters know only too well.We are a work-in-progress, we need a facelift and there are gaps in the squad which need filling. I applaud such honesty rather than listen to mealy-mouthed comments and hives of platitudinous gibberish swarming out.

This true - yet its still 'only' 3 new additions/ players (not inc Mattews as we'll never see him). He is right to say we still need more players. He would be a fool not to think that. We are still very short in the squad imo. People will try to make comment and find fault on everything these days.
