If anyone actually bothered to watch the cricket yesterday, they would have seen the best summary of this whole debate split over two 15minute interviews with Ebony Rainford-Brent, Nasser Hussain and Michael Holding. Pretty much covers every angle, and is extremely powerful. I'd suggest watching both of them if I were you.

I have stated on HOL that at my ripe age I am a "Reliant Robin smoking down the fast lane of life" and perhaps in time I will achieve the status of a 'Tortoise'. For the record, I have known a plethora of older black people over the years and our relations have always been good-humoured and cordial. Edited by Willo (09 Jul 2020 2.48pm)

But nothing to actually add to the debate. Just a chance to jump in, bandy about the 'R' word, experience that delicious frisson then crack on again. Relish the buzz. Hope beyond hope to see a bit more racism any and everywhere you can and then, when that stops being such a high, inch that bar up a tiny bit more just to maintain the highs. You LOVE racist Gammons like us. You need us, crave us even. We are your drug of choice.

A lot of sore points you have to say, I do wonder the sort of person who has supposedly said some of the things to the likes of Ebony, not people I can relate to and seriously need educating. Michael Holding's accounts sound eerily familiar when harking back to days of old but I think you can say the world has moved on massively from that, not that it should be ignored. Unfortunately, they lost me quite a few times, the best one was at one point where Ebony says she never swears, especially on social media, but posted "Is anyone f***ing sick and tired of seeing Black people murdered?" in relation to GF. Now, it is inferred that the connotation is 'by White people'. Given x-racial murder statistics indicate white people are disproportionately killed by Black people especially in USA and that black on black homicides are a daily, frequent occurrence I firstly am bemused by her statement and secondly feel like that is actually a racist statement in itself for twisting something to incite racial hated towards white people. She further goes on to keep talking about about black people being killed "day in and day out about those who are supposed to protect them", that's not true for the UK that's in USA and even then it happens to all races so a load of b***ocks. My overall take is that firstly, the world of Cricket doesn't reflect society as a whole so it's a limited platform. Secondly, you certainly do get a feel for how not only singular experiences but a prolonged exposure to multiple incidents can have such an affect on an individual. Unfortunately for me though, my third take is that a lot of what is stated is often based on people's own racial biases coming back the other way, which are never addressed, and quite frankly sensationalise and show clear indoctrination to ideas and thoughts that are pedalled by morons and bought by those equally unable to think independently. Racial disparity does exist but one sure way to ensure is does not get resolved is to create a sensationalised anti-white narrative based on lies.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

I didn't like the fact that when I watch cricket, I also have diversity crap shoved down my throat. There was no balance at all in anything that was said. It was the typical white person racist, black person victim rubbish.

The chap who was well advanced in years also expressed the view that this country is awash with large numbers of Indians, pakistanis and Bangladeshis but one never hears of any 'Victimhood' or racial complaints from them nor does one see them involved in civil disobedience. It’s been entertaining, in a slightly grubby way, and I’d be concerned if there was a lot of kids here reading this stuff but you guys just seem to be emboldening each other. Mostly harmless.

The kids? Of course. Think of the young people. Those poor vulnerable, easily influenced juveniles. The horror of them reading this. Luckily any and every form of mainstream media is there to tell the white ones just how s*** they are and that they need to feel a collective guilt about what happened a long long time ago. And how that manifests itself in that most heinous of all crimes. Whiteness. Especially if they are called Karen. The worst of the worst.

Racial disparity does exist but one sure way to ensure is does not get resolved is to create a sensationalised anti-white narrative based on lies. It's a lot more nuanced, as per the footage. Your attempted point around swearing really ticks the box of 'didn't really listen/understand what was being said'. Not that it's anywhere near the most relevant statement in the monologue, but she said she never swears on instagram. Then goes on to say but I posted... Which is entirely the point. And yes – this is a white/black issue, like it or not. Not exclusively, but predominantly. Of course racial bias exists the other way. Is that as relevant here? No. Is bias the other way more detrimental to those that suffer it as they are a minority and have been suffering negatively because of skin colour for 100s of years? Yes. Is that why that is more of an issue than black > white racial bias? Yes. Smacks of what about meism when people essentially say, 'yeah, fine, but what about me. WHAT ABOUT ME'. Ridiculous Holding clearly states more than once that black lives matter does not mean no other lives matter, white lives don't matter, or anything like it. The fact that is even having to be explained and somehow people feel put out by it over and over again speaks volumes for the ignorance and distinct lack of social awareness those people have. Would love to get your thoughts on what parts of what was said in those particular pieces was 'lies'. Y'know, being someone that's suffered racism and in particular black racism, I'm all ears.

What are your thoughts on the incident? Would you accept that it is reasonable for the police to pull over a car that was speeding and driving on the wrong side of the road?
