seeing as all disputes now seem tohave come to an amicable end - can we see the return oh hmhs thread now please - if need be under his 'proper' username and not the one that some may find offensive.

it's perhaps the most interesteing thread i've seen in my time on the HOL and whilstsome people ay find subjects like this too political or turbelent for their liking, i'm sure there are many who have found it a bloody good debate.

I am quite sure I am right in saying that Pete has no interest in making peace with me, or anyone of what he considers to be my ilk. I would have liked to have continued this discussion with him but I understand he replied to my post already, but I never got to read it before it was deleted by some over-zealous Mod or other.

It's a shame in that under different circumstances we might have been mates -- but we aren't. As it turns out Pete thinks a lot of things of me that aren't true, and I suspect that's also the case regarding some of my opinions of him. Such is life. I stand by my views on the war being wrong, for example (and boy was I right about the WMDs), and no doubt he stands by his opinion that I am a pro-Saddamist commie. Personally I'd rather he kept that view, it's kinda quaint.

Slug, you have not been silenced. Two, maybe three of your posts made this morning under the offensive username were deleted. Feel free to make the same points again under your usual username. The same username that you've had since Nov 14 2001 where you've made over 6,000 posts. Have their been any problems in the past? I personally feel you are making a big meal out of this situation to get a reaction. Luckily, the only people who are reacting are your two mates (that you actually met on this site) who are backing you up. What it has to do with them I don't know.

The thread hasn't been deleted, just moved to the mod forum while it's being discussed on what to do about it.

We're not going ask you to change your username becuase we all know you already have a valid one - halfmanhalfslug.

If Pete has taken the mick out of your name in the past, then why not complain then and action would have been taken. I'm not offended by the name but was asked to remove the Retardialator name this weekend and did so. As you have contributed to the site as a moderator and had a betting column in the past, I would have thought you would have found me quite approachable to discuss any issues in private. If you told me you were offended by any of his names about you, then action would have been taken too. It's nothing to do with favouritism.

Challenge what you see as racism, like you have done in the past without any problems. But why not post under halfmanhalfslug username? Why not carry on debating emotive issues such as racism like you have done with me and others over some of the 6,000 posts you have made. There was no problem back then. In fact, I enjoyed the debates that you were involved in. It was all pretty much civilised. I didn't agree with much of your views but there was no animosity and no censorship and nothing has changed. Why should it have done?

I don't know what's got into you to start going crazy like this. I find this whole episode pretty sad and childish. And to say I "won't accept your posts unless they suit me" and that you'd "rather say nothing than work under censorship" is both untrue and out of order.

I for one hope that HMHS continues his recent return, things have got veryinteresting.

Penge mate, I can't expect you to remember posts from all that time back - but yes, there WERE problems in the past with people objecting very strongly to my anti-racist and anti-war views in particular. It did get pretty nasty at times. I didn't go running to the mods, I fought my corner. Maybe I should have just told teacher instead but I grew up having to fight my own battles.

I think it's sad you reckon this is just done for a reaction. It's to provoke discussion and debate, which is the best way to defeat ignorance and fear. It's got nothing to do with ME per se - hence the pseudonym - it's not important that it's MY opinion, just that it's AN opinion.

I also don't see why you object to two people posting, just because I am friends with them. Why does this invalidate their opinion? I am sorry but you've lost me there. What it has to do with them is simple - they have opinions and wish to express them. As did I.

I already told you pal - I wasn't upset about it. Sticks and stones, etc.

Crazy?? Er...is this a medical opinion? Do you think that being passionate about politics is a new direction for me? What's with the name-calling mate, I thought that was over now on this thread.

Finally, you can CLAIM that me not being prepared to work under censorship isn't true. But it is.
