We shall see, but Maguire looks like another one who will do well in an international finals once but will go back to his old self when the season starts especially if he gets a big pay rise on the back of the World Cup. A couple of players did that in Euro 16 - Hal Robson-Kanu springs to mind. Never looked to me like he would put in 100% shift week in week out.

I’m not convinced either.

we could go down if wilf stays.

way too much is being put on one player its team effort

Did you not see our stats last season whereby we never won a game unless he was playing?

I really like Tomkins. But he’s a 29 year old ‘second Center back’, Maguire is 25 and will be the main Center back. Tomkins is great with a main man like Sako. I really like Tomkins, but McGuire looks like the real deal. More of a Terry /Adams then a Cahill/Bould.

Good post. Let's sell Wilf and buy Maguire ... as we'll definitely need another central defender?!

A very quaint notion, doesn't seem to happen in football.

It does the club says so.

I even wonder if the whole Wilf thing is just to distract us from the fact that we aren't signing anyone.
Wouldn't put it past them.

Trying not to alarm people but CPFC Twitter shows a training session (pre Reading) occurring at the moment yet Zaha has just instagrammed and it doesn't look like he's @ the training ground saying 'how do I get mental space'.

NB: Instagram story seems to now have disappeared.

Have people thought what it is like for Wilf with this constant speculation by fans? He has said that he is happy and not looking to move. The Club has said it doesn't want to sell. Why can we not take them at their word.

If we find out we have been lied to we can react later but at present we need to get behind Wilf and show why he should stay.

At the moment, he is still odds on to be with us after the transfer window ( 8/13 with sky bet) he is 6/5 to leave us. It’s very tight and we could all do with some closure. However I have pure faith in the board and with Roy And whatever happens it will be for the best. At the end of the day, if he wants to go, there is not much anyone can do about it.

Have faith

Spurs won't give him a raise,
Utd have Lingard, Rashford and Martial.
Liverpool have Salah, Mané and Shaqiri.
City have Mahrez and friends.
Chelsea likely to keep Hazard I feel.
That leaves arsenal, they've already spent and I don't feel Kroenke will inject more cash so they can get him.

All in all I think we will be ok this season.
