I have a gut feeling that he will stay put at Bournemouth...........hope i'm wrong though.
I know Managers always say "I love a challenge" but this seems a bit daft to me. I don't think its been mentioned too often on the thread, and I don't think its the be all or end all for Eddie Howe at all, but the offer on the table isn't a straight swap for Bournemouth for Palace. It's taking on Palace, a tough job, and being very well paid for it. CPFC2010 have spent millions on rescuing Palace. Buying the ground, funding the gap until the season ticket money arrives and more besides. It would be reasonable to think that they are prepared to pay the key individual at the club a very good wage for looking after it. Especially, one who could save his salary several times over with astute buys from the lower leagues and getting more out the current squad than the last guy. So Eddie Howe does have a big decision to make. I hope that he can see the potential in Palace, I hope he can see in Steve Parish a man he can enjoy working with, a man with similar ambition and integrity I hope the challenge excites him But apart from that challenge there will be the financial compensation for leaving his beloved Bournemouth - and that could well be 3 or 4 times what he's earning at the moment. And as a career move, if he can turn around Palace and get us near to or into the PL in the next couple of years then he really will be getting himself a seriously big reputation. New Managers are normally required when times are tough - succeed at Palace and he will have a great track record. If his dream is ultimately to manage a top four club, maybe in 10 years time, then Palace is a logical next move. I am sure he will make his decision for absolutely the right reasons, but the value of the contract offered will be among those reasons he is thinking about. If he turns us down then even greater respect to him for rejecting the cash, unless its to join Charlton of course. Maybe, but when Harry was with us, he said he was told the same things and stuck around because he know there was time, and he was older than Howe. Being at the same club - a club you love - for more than a couple of years is not a bad thing, if anything, it shows his passion, loyalty and respect in a footballing world where that is very much lacking.

I have to question if Howe is the right man as he seems unsure and not jumping at the chance to come here. If he can't give up his beloved Bournemouth then he should stay there.

I agree with you. He says he is torn, and you are giving one half of the story why. The other half of the story probably does include a stonking big contract and a 'logical' career progression Success brings these choices. He has two great options. If he decides to stick with Bournemouth all power to him and hope to see in you the Championship next year.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'mixed views on Eddie Howe' by SpikeyMatt another thing I'm desperate to know what to do is to do that thing where you reply to someone by putting a line then writing your reply, how do you do that? At the bottom right of the post you wish to respond to is a quotation mark. Click on it and you will be able to respond to that particular post.
If you come to a fork in the road, take it. |

I,ve said befor on this thread i,d like to see Howe manage Palace but reading his comments and judging by the time he,s had to make a decision i don,t think the man has any ambition to manage a big club.

having heard his interview after todays game,i dont think he'll go north, and his love of bournemouth might stop him going to the clowns(that could also have been the reason for him not going to southampton?) he either wants a completely new challenge or the challenge of getting bournemouth up;my gut feeling is that we maybe a big enough chellenge to tempt him,cos if he dont go now i dont think he will ever go (ala dario gradi?)

He would be daft to leave bournmouth where he is building a name. I don't honestly believe he will take this gamble at his age. Not worth it. We need a good experienced manager. I would love Roy hodgson and I actually think he would consider us at his age beings that palace is where his career began.
