Yeah, but Sorloth had been awash with goals when he came too. 14 goals in 25 matched for Midtjylland. Then again, I must admit I kind of like that McBurnie has a good price for quality.

What may I humbly ask is the 'Price' attached to these - players ? Is it some arbitrary figure attached to them by some sources of information which of course might bear no relation whatsoever to the price that might be demanded by respective clubs ? Have the clubs indicated a figure ? Edited by Willo (10 May 2019 11.22am)

Saw this on BBC gossip column: Manchester United missed out on signing Ajax captain and Dutch international Matthijs de Ligt, 19, because they were told he would become too fat. (Mirror) Looks like Matteo has been scouting for Man U

Well, thanks Willo, but I don't think I'm all that. We're all on this thread logical people who can have a pleasant conversation about football. About the prices, they're form last months' rumours, that Swansea would want around 5 million for him, while Tammy is valued at around 25 and Che Adams at around 15.
These aren't people that we would classify as "fat" if we saw them on the street, but they could be fat for this top level of performance. And if you pay 80 million for a player and he can only compete at the highest level for 2 years instead of 5, then it's a bad deal and you gave to be careful especially with 18-year-olds who are still developing. However, I see no indication that de Ligt has a tendency to gain weight, he is all fibre.

Now that the dust has settled my hopes for the summer would be: 1) To keep all the key members of the current squad; particularly Wilf and AWB; 2) a striker who knows where the goal is and is capable of putting the ball into it. Batshuayi would fit the bill although, for me, he doesn't contribute enough outside the box; 3) a creative midfielder, Grealish or someone in that mould; 4) a left back to put pressure on PVA, preferably one who knows how to defend. That would make me very happy but I doubt much, if any, of it will happen. I predict we will actually sign Sakho and Ayew! Goalkeepers: I don't see this as a priority, Guiata and Hennessey as No.1 and 2 with the the young Brazilian as No.3. Butland is good but I don't see this as a priority. Back four: apart from cover at LB I think we are OK and I suspect Schlupp will actually be the player who covers PVA. Offload Jach if possible, if not then loan him out again. Central midfield: I think we are fairly well served here but could do with a more creative upgrade on McArthur (who I see as a very good squad player), ideally Grealish. Wide players: Wilf and Andros if we can keep them. I won't be surprised to see Ayew and Sakho as the cover in these positions. Strikers: whether we like it or not we are stuck with Benteke and Wickham due to the wages they are on. If we can't find a buyer for Sorloth then I think he should be loaned out again in the hope that he will be ready to become a member of our squad once Benteke and Wickham are out of contract but I'm not optimistic that he will ever be good enough. Whether Chelsea will release Batshuayi is a moot point and I doubt we could afford him, a season long loan might be the best we could hope for. Youngsters: I think it's unlikely any will make the breakthrough but Dreher, Kirby and Flanagan look the best three bets for the future from what I've seen. My 'summer resolution' is not to allow any of the rumours to get me too up (or down).

Secondly, we've already signed Sahko
