Rudi is right, having 3 stations near by is easy, it's changing in London that makes it difficult, and being on the south means you have to go all the way through or round London for most clubs.

For people who have lived in London using its public transport network is simple. But it's worse than the hunger games for the average northerner. If you mention the tube to them you can see the fear in their eyes.

Driving to Selhurst is even worse people who don't know the way. It's so bad that in the 70's the government realised it needed a motorway to serve it, but by the time construction reach Hooley they just gave up because it was too difficult go find a route.

Driving is a mare but parking is a whole different level.

I was surprised to see that in the press as I'd been told it was the 4th...I cant see it being earlier...esp if there's no Master Site plan submitted yet (?)

Croydon Council and Crystal Palace will meet to discuss the plans this week

"Alison Butler, cabinet member for homes, regeneration and planning at the council, said: “We are in early discussions with Palace about Selhurst Park and we look forward to seeing their plans come forward. We have arranged meetings with them, with the first being this week.

“Until we see what it is [the announcement] I can’t really comment further but we are very supportive of Selhurst Park staying in the borough.”

and.."But it is understood a planning application has not yet been submitted to the council for either a redevelopment or new stadium, something which would need to be done before any plan comes to fruition."

And add the 'early discussion' bit.

This is nothing amazing. If that is it then Steve P has gone well over the top with his 'major announcement'. Such a salesman. Still, it's worked on many so he is good at it tbf.

Sure, but at least it A) gives an indication of what the announcement is about and B) that he may have spurred the Council into getting talks moving...either way it's a positive and at least things can move forward.

I'd like a redeveloped stadium something like this, the new main stand resembling the old crystal palace, couple of bars up either side of the towers, a big glass eagle on a ball in the middle just like the badge, looking out as far as probably halfway up the holmesdale road. 2 tiers with the boxes inbetween and the changing rooms so the players come out between the dugout. Both corners filled in between the White horse and Arthur, stick the away fans there, get rid of Sainsbury's and get crystals back, a new 2 tier stand for the Arthur, outside glass all around paying homage to the glaziers, the inside built entirely for atmosphere. Keep the holmesdale for a couple of seasons with the plan of completely knocking it down and replacing it with one big kop, all safe standing. Sorted.

Don’t think she’s got any danger of it upping sticks and moving boroughs anytime soon.

my word, you've read my mind, extraordinary, a homage to Paxton I've even posted similar here, all spot on apart from the new kop imho, nice idea but zero chance of it happening.

LOL. We'd not get change from £300mill for a new ground anywhere, not a chance we are moving from Selhurst!

A little google search on Selhurst has just thrown up that the land it is built on was bought from non other than the Brighton railway company.
