Well i hope he comes to us, i think .e would score goals for us through the service he'll get from wide and from set pieces also as his good at finding space in the box.

18 goals last year in the prem for a sh*t side,he'll get the goals that fire us into europe,no brainer.

As for not being a team player a good player can adapt to any style a team plays.

Austin to palace = european football.

The game is littered with good players where none of that applies following moves...probably the most recent high profile being Di Maria at Manchester United.

The purchase of Austin guarantees absolutely nothing

Di Maria wasn't british and could'nt adapt to british culture,he said as much himself.

I will never agree with you Sash and visa versa but wish you Merry christmas.

You're telling me we can't just name players that we think would be good, irrespective of talent, ability, attributes, mentality, languages spoken and a general understanding of how they'd fit into the club and how they'd work under AP's tactics?

Transfer Talk is ****** then.

I have to be honest I don't know whether Austin is a team player or not

What I will say is that is the same accusation levelled at Murray before he came to us.

the dignified don't even enter in the game

The thing with scoring a lot of goals for a relegated team is that it's very rarely any guide to how a player will fare for a better team. You need look no further than AJ (at Everton) or Chris Armstrong (at Spurs) to know that a top scorer of a side that went down doesn't necessarily flourish when they move on. I'm not saying Austin wouldn't score 20 for Palace in the Prem or that there weren't extenuating circumstances for AJ and Armstrong...I'm simply pointing out that the fact he did so for QPR is a weak argument that he will repeat the feat for us. Often, it's easier to score goals when you're the sole focal point for a weak side than it is for a better one where the riches are more spread around.

I do agree that the team player thing is somewhat irrelevant. Few in-the-box goalscorers of the highest quality are team players. If someone scores 20 goals a season in the Prem, I'm fine with them being selfish.

My personal view is that Austin would probably score around 15 a season for us. But I think there's a pretty good chance Wickham will score that number once he's bedded in plus he's both younger and a better all around player. I'd like to see our 10 million pound striker (assuming we do buy one) be more of a fox-in-the-box who contrasts to and complements Wickham than a player like Austin.

Agree to an extent but Armstrong was something like 4th or 5th top scorer for Spurs in his first 100 games compared to everyone else- if we got something like that from Austin we're in Europe. Sure, he's a gamble but I think Wickham was a bigger one.

Austin played/plays in a 2 up front with play with one as our stretch is our midfield.
Wonder how austin would do with people doubling up on him.

I'd fully support Austin or Remy joining Palace. I think both men would be pleased to join our club. The trouble is the clubs in competition with us for European qualification will do everything in their power to block Palace from acquiring a genuinely dangerous striker. If I were Tottenham in particular, that would be my perspective. Of course, they can't buy everyone, but they can surely target our top choices and make it extremely difficult for CPFC. It's a big test for the club's financial clout. Not only do we need to outmuscle a bigger club for a quality striker, but we must also hold on to Bolasie. It's no secret that bloody Spurs are trying to halt Palace's rise by transferring Bolasie. They realize Palace are getting uncomfortably close to breaking their grip on that steady European football money. Let's see how strong the club is.

Personally I don't think they're in for him. But if they are let's see how deep there pockets are. £15-20 million and they can have him.
