Todays extra download is the first album or bootleg that I've posted by this band. They are called The Pretty Things and they were formed in 1963 and are still going today!. They had moderate commercial success in the 60's. Bowie covered two of their songs on his album Pin Ups. The band have changed personel many times over the years - with Dick Taylor being the only ever present. Before they were called The Pretty Things, they were called Little Boy Blue and featured Mick Jagger and Keith Richard in the line up. This boot is in superb quality and is a great set. They finish with a cover of the classic Route 66 ... this is thoroughly recommended.... "Released in 2007 - this four CD box set that includes all of the British Folk legends' surviving BBC radio recordings, which were taped between 1967 and 1974. It was thought, until recently, that very few of these recordings from this time remained in the BBC’s archive, but a few years ago a box was discovered on a shelf at the BBC. It is a marvelous addition to the Fairport collection and is timed to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the formation of the band The Fairports, the single best British Folk-Rock band of the late '60s, did more than any other act to develop a truly British variation on the Folk-Rock prototype by drawing upon traditional material and styles indigenous to the British Isles. Here's one for any fans of Lynyrd Skynyrd.... After the plane crash in which members of Lynyrd Skynryd died, the surviving band members formed the Rossington Collins band (named after the two surviving guitarists) - they released one album. Here is a bootleg of the band live on new years eve 1980 in Atlanta, Georgia. This is in superb quality and is a great set - the highlight of which is the after midnight countdown when the band play an instrumental version of Freebird which lasts for 17 minutes and is dedicated to Ronnie Van Zant, Steve and Cassie Gaines, and Dean Kilpatrick - all of whom died in the plane crash. It is an incredible version... a must have for any fans of Lynyrd Skynyrd......
