Yep, can confirm it was 14,000 tickets but I did get one. Cost me £25 plus the cost of a season ticket for the Holmesdale the following season at ..... £91..... Priceless!

Got my ticket a.m. on the morning of the match, got a phone call about 9.00am from a Man U fan in our village saying he had two tickets but we had to collect them from a hotel in London, sure enough we collected them paid face value,he had the expensive one I had the other....we had no idea where our seats were.....mine was in the Stretford End by the Tunnel his was with the nobs in the Palace end.
This was fine until we went 3-2 up with not long to go I suddenly felt very conspicuous in my Palace 1990 FA Cup Final shirt, as it happened they equalized so I maybe was a little lucky in both respects going to a great match and getting out of the ground in one piece.

Queued for 25 hours - one ticket each only supposedly with s/f stub. Lovely Joyce sold me two when I showed her my friend's who couldn't do the queue.

Bit of a stampede I remember at 9am.

14,000 yep.

But we were only averaging about 11,000 a year before.

Replay was great - 38,000 Palace. Pity about the negative tactics, non-starting role for Wright, the shirts and just everything about that evening. I left with 5 minutes to go. Depressed. I wasn't that bothered what happened due to the tactics. We didn't deserve anything from that game.

Some mates and I went to the POY awards the night before they went on sale then joined the queue, had a game of 30-a-side on the pitch with other p!ssed up fans at about 3am in the morning, anyone else play in that match? Then got my ticket, great times

It was based on average attendances. If you look it that it was United who were being hard done by. They had 26,000 tickets we had 14,000. Our average was about 16k where as United 35-40k. We only lost 2,000 regular supporters.

If I remember correctly the replay was half and half?

I was gutted to miss the final, but made sure I got a replay ticket.

The behaviour of the manure fans afterwards was disgraceful and so began my pathelogical hatred of that club to this day and forever more.

Agree that Coppell fcuked up on the night... for a start Wright should have played the full 90 minutes....
