The following is an extract from a blog, which HOL Radio blogger Richard Foster has written to take us through his thought process as we enter the final day before the window (slams) shut.

Here is a link - you are free to click on it or not: [Link]

Here is an extract to help you decide in case you aren't sure if you want to:

31st January 2014 is a date that is etched into every football fan’s mental diary and through the manipulative orchestrations of Sky Sports we are all slathering over the prospect of last minute swoops and switches. Welcome to Transfer Deadline Day (TDD), the biannual orgy of speculation and spurious television coverage. For these 24 hours Jim White is transformed into the most important person on this little old planet of ours and then he returns to hibernation until the end of August.

EDIT: Probably worth mentioning Hol Radio's deadline day special starts at 8pm tomorrow and will continue long into the night as we react to all the news and see who we can chat to about it!

Cant disagree with any of that..

What sticks in my throat is that 'totaliser' board that some Sky autocutie salivates over as the total spend goes up and up like a church restoration fund thermometer except its in millions rather than pennies like its a good thing as teams go out of business for the want of half a days money for Wayne Rooney...

Buckle up it'll be a bumpy ride. I love the transfer window final day and big Jim White. I'm a Sky whore and I admit it

I think this transfer window is what relegates teams. They should scrap it because it is unfair to clubs such as us.

If all teams kept the same squad for each season, then the money-laden clubs couldn't buy up survival players. Maybe a renamed 25 in Jan due to unexpected injuries (or players that don't fit in/are cr*p) should be all that happens.

Look where we are now, we were favorites for the drop until recently, now this window opens and we can't afford the players we (maybe) need. Will we be relegated due to lack of finances?

I do hope not!

All teams have players on the books not named in the chosen 25. Returning injured players for example.

Nobody can afford it. That is the situation. It's who wants to spend money now, and the next season, and next season until all the options have run dry. If we can survive for a season or more without going into the red financially, think how much of an edge for more than just a season we might have over the 3 teams coming up, and the few teams that haven't kept their powder dry and are destined for the drop.

A balance of here and now and later on. Don't be too tight, and don't go mad so that next season and the one after it's already spent before Sky write the next cheque. There is also the 90 year old main stand to do but if we can get the balance right then several years of Sky money will help a lot.
