I was merely pointing out that saying a ref deserves respect just because he's a "FIFA ref" is ludicrous given that FIFA knows as much about ethical governance and probity as I know about quantum mechanics.

What the hell has "Ethical governance" and "Probity" got to do with the selection of top referees ? I like to think that to qualify as a FIFA referee one has displayed a great deal of competence in the field of refereeing and NOT been selected as a result of any dubious practices.

It's quite simple - you said Webb was ok because he's a "FIFA ref". But FIFA are the sh*ttest, most corrupt organisation in the history of football, so your useage of them as a byword for credibility is patently ridiculous.

Do you get that?

FIFA would select me as a ref if I arrived in Zurich with enough cash in brown envelopes.

They're more corrupt than Robert Mugabe and about as credible.

No I don't accept that there is a "Credibility" issue surrounding the appointment of FIFA referees. You clearly feel that "Corruption" enters the fore when it comes to FIFA selecting referees.I happen to believe that FIFA referees are selected on merit but we obviously differ on this point.

Anyway I am now going out for a drink and a meal !

Either you're deliberately missing the point or you're just not all that bright. Not sure. Could be both actually.

Either way, I'm glad you have such faith in FIFA. Perhaps you'd like to "Sit Down" with Sepp "Blatter" and "Discuss" what a fine organisation "He" runs.

With the greatest of respect you are missing my point but alas I wouldn't stoop to comment about yours or anyone else's cerebral capacity in negative terms.
We are clearly on the "Opposite sides of the house" on this one !

Webb reminds me of Graham Poll.... the clown that didn't realise he had dished out 3 yellow cards to the same player.

Ohhhh, believe me Hoofy, we all noted it down here!!

Thankfully a draw was enough to see us through to the knockout stages.

Regarding Webb, yep, it seems like he thinks it's all about him out there.

Webb was probably thinking about the four grand he would earn at his next after-dinner gig when he missed the pen at Sunderland.
Great call, Howard! All is forgiven!

I'm not missing your point, I just don't agree with it. You think FIFA is all above board and tickety-boo and I don't. Maybe "We" should just "Leave" it "There".

Back on topic, I agree with you. We need a bit of luck and maybe that was it. Could be crucial come the end of the season.

Against Webb look at this:

Promotion-chasing Brentford had to settle for a draw in a game which saw referee Eddie Ilderton change his mind about sending off Sheffield United's Kieron Freeman and awarding a penalty.

Freeman was dismissed after he was ruled to have fouled Marcello Trotta.

But, after consulting with assistant Mark Dwyer, Ilderton rescinded the red card and gave a drop ball.

"He got it wrong but he put it right," said Blades boss Nigel Clough. "It takes a lot of courage to do that."
