The Clash - I know this will anger many on here but I just never 'got' them.

Should I stay or should I go is ok - but Rock The Casbah is bloody awful.

*applauds* - with you all the way on that one Pikes. Listened to their album 'Give 'em enough rope' - It's ok and so are they but well overrated.

So far all of the replies are f***ing nonsense. The beatles? The who? Overrated my f***ing arse. I'm not a led zeppelin fan, but overrated they are not. It's actually making me laugh. I think you may be confusing 'overrated' with 'I've never listened to any of their material outside of what's on the radio'. That can be the only explanation.

That's funny I just purchased give em enough rope on vinyl and I think it's f***ing amazing. How can you tell me you don't think it's very good? Gotta be one of the most energetic and rebellious albums ever.
The clash are overrated? How many hit singles did they have? Honestly this is one instance where I don't care about respecting opinions. You two are f***ing crazy

There were just so many outstanding bands around roughly the same time when they first got noticed - The Stranglers, Joy Division, early Simple Minds, The Jam and afew others, that they always seemed Championship rather than Prem to me. Their stuff just doesn't stand up in comparison though appreciate they have a massive following still - and I've only heard probably a fifth of their stuff - so must have something about them. Not for me though. Average.

The Clash
Oasis
Led Zeppelin
The Police
ELP
Genesis

When I include Led Zeppelin,I don't mean to suggest they were not a decent band who made some decent albums. But,"one of the all time greats"? Nah. Peter Grant was a very good manager and they had a lot of hype IMO.

Have to disagree... in all depts. they were masters of their craft.

Nearly all decent drummers took their hats off to Bonzo even Keef Moon.

John Paul Jones driving bass riffs were legendary.

Jimmy Page was as good as Hendrix/Clapton/Young/Knopfler.

Very few vocalists had Robert Plant's range.

Their albums were always critically acclaimed and bought in there millions.

In comparison to let's say The Rolling Stones... they p1ssed all over them.

They might not be everyone's cup of tea genrewise but you cannot deny their talent and appeal over a long period of time.

Whoever suggested U2 as overrated was spot on though.... and their egos.

Led Zep pissed all over the Rolling Stones? Had to check the calendar to make sure it wasn't 1 April!

Mind you,agree with you 110% about U2.

I did say it might anger some on here..

It's not necessarily hit singles - it's you lot on here for starters and then all the NME etc. top 100 albums and bands and they are very very rated by a lot of people - and IMHO - OVERrated.

You fed me, you bred me, I'll remember your name.
