All sounds good, but I still don't think it's as efficient a system as invading a country, bombing its people, digging miles in to that land's core, blowing up rocks, extracting some oil and selling it in big buildings on the side of motorways.

If punk ever happened I'd be preaching the law, instead of listenin to Lydon lecture BBC4

Nuclear is cleaner than fossil fuel and means you can be secure in your energy supply, as you don't need to import hydrocarbons.

Well other than the thousands of years for the waste to be 'safe'

Well fossil fuels have waste too.

If tesla have sorted the storing of power from solar, that's got to be the best option

Sounds good but it's not.

Batteries how is that good for the environment if all these large batteries need to be produced then as it is with batteries they degrade so you wont get a great deal of life out of them 1-2 years and then needs replacing.

Next is you will need a lot of solar panels to produce enough to be able to use the power and store it this is tough and will add to cost.

The government/councils do not even use solar power now which I do find strange they push for this and we hear about its better/cheaper but then why are new schools/hospital not using it then?

Tesla have always come out with stuff like this but rarely it converts to practical world application.

We will have to wait and see......But it's good that we have people like Musk looking to push forward technology......Things have stagnated over the last ten years.

The batteries are guaranteed for ten years. That doesn't mean that they will be near full capacity of course, but they certainly won't be useless after 1-2. As for solar, it's getting cheaper all of the time. Economy of scale and all that.

This is the way we're inevitably heading so I'm pleased to see Musk pushing things forward.

Rubbish as I have said on other threads it would max give 30-40 years supply with the increased demand.

I believe there are other battery storage breakthroughs either happening or just announced including British research.

One thing, probably the only thing, I agree with Clarkson on is that the height of technologic aspiration, especially, in the UK was 1968, and it has been a slow decline since.
