I will ask again seeing as no one took up the nettle from the left (what a shock) how come there was a distinct lack of riots when Labour came into power ?

They're not, it's just left wing people are more likely to shout and heckle and applaud and cheer. Because they are morons. Whereas right-wing people are more likely to raise an eyebrow or just think it to themselves. Because they are clever and civilised.

I don't know about everyone else, but I come here for the deep, insightful analysis.

Jesus the right wing bang on and on about disgusting. Sure, cuts to the NHS and mental health treatment, they say nothing, but you spray one memorial and they wet their knickers.

Yeah its wrong, someone deserves to be charged with criminal damage, but jesus, you're worse than the lefties protesting against the Tories winning the rigged vote system rather than anyone else (in all likelihood they'd have been protesting a labour victory as well).

The Tories have pledged £8 billion a year extra spend on the NHS for the next five years - what did Labour pledge?

All the Socialist Worker placard waving nutters do is shout 'out,out,out' and 'when do we want it - now!' Most of them do not have clue about what they are 'protesting' about. As I have said before, very similar to the trouble makers among Millwall supporters.

Is Jesus right wing by the way?

Edited by derben (12 May 2015 7.46am)

After all the cuts last time in, their spending more on the NHS? Seems a bit schizophrenic.

Jesus? Probably dead at best.

What did Labour pledge?

2.5bn according to google, but its irrelevant as we're talking about the Conservatives; the same Conservative also promised not to cut spending on the NHS in its austerity package and cuts, and then was forced to admit it had reduced spending and introduced cuts to the NHS.

Labour's pledge is meaningless as they have no capacity to act upon it, nor do they have a respon

Also, in terms of austerity, where is this money coming from - Presumably from cuts in the welfare budget? Obviously they won't be raising taxes?

These anarchists are planning a summer of protests which of course will result in wanton violence.Lets hope the Police act very firmly against these hoodlums.

I'd rather the police acted in accordance with the law in situations, with correct oversight, and not directly intervening for political expediency - and act responsibly to avoid unnecessary risks to the public or provoking an escalation in trouble.

The same reason -- as someone on here (npn?) pointed out - that BBC Question Time crowds always seem left-wing.

They're not, it's just left wing people are more likely to shout and heckle and applaud and cheer. Because they are morons. Whereas right-wing people are more likely to raise an eyebrow or just think it to themselves. Because they are clever and civilised.

The same with protests. The likes of Nick Spart-Gusset think raising the barricades is the response to everything. Because they are dinosaurs who pretend to themselves they're doing it "for the people" when really they're only - like anyone else - protecting their pockets. Like when doctors and teachers only go on strike when it's their pensions which are under threat. They talk a good talk about cuts, but they don't really care until it hits them in the pocket.

Right-wing people don't moan loudly or go on demos. They just quietly move their investments offshore or into tax-avoidance schemes.

Exactly.

All this furore over pensions from the police, firebrigade, teachers etc when necessary changes to cope with demographics were implemented says it all.

Lloyds Bank made a massive change to their pension scheme last year by freezing pensionable salary. This means that all future pay increases don't qualify for your final salary to calculate entitlement.

The staff had to accept it, because it was necessary and the company needed to do it to clear the deficit between assets and liabilities.

It's going to cost my Mrs about £2K a year on her retirement income and for a lot of her younger colleagues, a hell of a lot more.

They didn't strike, but many will move elsewhere to achieve better working conditions/pay/benefits.

Unless they're the far right. In which case they act very much like the same elements of the far left who are all protest and no trousers when it comes to the end of the day.

Also most right wing people did quite well under the Labour government, with the tax cuts etc, and clearly many were lured away in the 1997 election for such a brutal landslide to occur.

I can't really think of a government since 1980 that even the right would really have had a major issue with. A lot of them must have voted for Tony Blair's governments.

What your saying essentially is that LloydsTSB offered pension schemes it could not cover, because it couldn't balance assets and liabilities.

Its a bank, you'd think someone there would understand accountancy.

What galls me is the incompetence in offering unsustainable contracted offers, that are then withdrawn because the first party can't afford it. Especially given the profits and bonuses that the good times brought those industries.

They failed in their commitment and responsibility to deliver on their side of the agreement. You'd think financial companies would understand profit and loss, assets and liabilities.

People should be angry. Even if the changes have to be made.

Yes I can picture the headlines of "Police brutality..." etc etc .

A lot of left-wing people are morons. Especially the loud ones. The stuff some people I know have come out with since the election is pretty scary.

One person - who stood to become a Green councillor - said how marvellous it was that someone had thrown a bucket of water over a Tory MP.

Someone said actually no, it's not on in a peaceful democracy to go round doing stuff like that.

He said, and I quote, without a hint of irony: "well as a Tory he is literally responsible for all the deaths resulting from their policies so deserves everything he gets."

It's people like that who create the Gulags and Tianenmen-esque massacres.

Admittedly there are a lot of right-wing morons. But the left-wing ones are more dangerous because they're so convinced that what they're doing is for the Greater Good.

Firstly I agree whole heartedly with Johnny and yourself, and would like to add, that the terms of my employment with HM Government including pensions allowances and general working conditions, have been systamatically eroded over the last 13 years to the point where many people at my level have had enough and jacked it in.

The changes to the pension alone, if tried in civvie street would be against the law ( I suspect ) but we dont strike, we have no union, we don't moan (well not much and only to each other ).

And yet some sport direct clad oxygen thief with 10 kids gets his benefit capped to 24,000 a year for sitting on his arse smoking weed and watching Jeremy Kyle ( the one he/she stared in) and thinks it's OK to vandalise war memorials, and be a genereal pain in the arse.

Let us deal with the protesters lets see them riot then . Spolit Little pricks

Don't comment if you don't understand how pension schemes work.

Final Salary pension schemes were designed in the 1930's when life expectancy was a lot lower than now.

It's not an accountancy cock up, but a situation where liabilities have spiralled as people are living beyond actuarial forecasts made many years ago.

The private sector has realised this and acted accordingly.... the public sector has yet to accept this fact and Unions are still fighting the inevitable which is costing tax payers Billions.

Everyone thinks what they believe is for the best or the good of society. That's why they believe it.

If HOL teaches us anything, it's that common sense has very little to do with political affiliation.

left = moron
right = clever and civilised

is such a silly statement it's hard to know where to begin. Suffice to say, on a lefty forum somewhere no doubt someone has posted

right = moron
left = clever and civilised

and people are clapping like seals at that too. All something like that getting a thumbs up tells us is that this place skews to the right.

These hoodlums are plotting a demonstration at the State opening of Parliament and 'Class war' (They don't have any class) have release incendiary posters calling on comrades to take part in violent protests later this month. And groups are planning an anti-austerity demonstratiuon outside the Bank of England in June.
