Johnny Evans as well as playing at centre-half has played at right-back. He is very good at coming out of defence with the ball, is a good user of the ball and has pace.

Having re read the post , I think you may be right , my bad haha , for me Evans is an improvement on the other two , and at 27 has his best years ahead of him, he would be a good option of we are unable to get Williams which seems unlikely.

He has played in the Champions League against some of the best strikers in the world and learnt from players like Ferdinand (when good) Stam and Vidic, I would have him here in a heartbeat.

What I am saying and interesting you compare to cleverly. These manU youngsters (the new breed) are distinctly average players who get found out when they leave and haven't got Rio, vidic etc saving their arse!!!
