It's a shame a thread on Connor Wickham, gets hijacked into a puerile discussion into exactly what award Zaha won a couple of seasons ago....come on Mods is there any way to extract these posts and put them into a seperate thread....or perhaps you could start a new forum 'full blown arguments!' Nomdeal in place yet for Wickham. Maybe the interest in Llorente is a fallback in case the deal with Wickham falls through for any reason?

I mean, it's not rocket science. If Wickham did indeed have a medical Friday then you'd think negotiations on a personal deal wouldn't take that long. I mean, you'd presume he wants out of Sunderland and really wouldn't be holding out for an unreal contract. If he's playing brinkmanship to get an even better deal, I'd say he ought to be careful it doesn't rebound on him.

I hope Wickham signs,Llorente would only be here for the money and is 30. Wickham is 22 has resale value and has everything to prove. They're all in it for the money. In fact I suspect Wickham is haggling about money as we speak - I wonder if the Llorente rumour is a negotiation tactic. I'd love a proven goal scorer this season - and suspect his wages wouldn't be much higher than Wickham's...

Wickham is 22 has resale value and has everything to prove. If he fails it'll be no more than £1m as he's failed to deliver on his potential everywhere to date In the current climate he'll be around £4m if he 'failed' as a young, homegrown player. We should be getting behind new signings and trust Pardew's judgement until we have strong reason not to.

The reason Wickham hasn't signed yet is because they're having difficulty finding him a one room bedsit in Penge or Sydenham that's small enough whilst having a bad enough damp problem and general standard of crappyness. Pards and Parish are worried that if he moves to Beckenham straight away it'll be too much of a culture shock for him.

I think most fans are supportive of Pardew but we are well within our rights to consider the various pro and cons - especially as there's unflattering noise around this young man - talented but unfulfilled so far.

Regardless of whether the Wickham deal dose or dose not go through (there seems to be a hitch) Pards will not play him if he doesn't warrant his place . The Prem is all about competition and bringing the best out in the players you have got , thats where the manager earns his corn . You win some you lose some ,(Spurs by the way have just thrown back a player they paid over £20M for ). I hope the lad signs ,Id rather take a punt on an English player than some chancer from overseas and if he does He should have and will Im sure have all our support .
And we still need a striker |
