When you can buy 4 cans for the price of one pint pubs will continue losing customers. sad fact.

Since the smoking ban, hardly ever.

I tell you what old boy a lot of the blame (in my opinion) can be laid at the feet of the Big breweries. Ever keen to cram 20 somethings into converted banks etc they slowly but surely sounded the death knell for the traditional boozer. I remember watching Palace pre season against Carshalton & ended up in Guildford in a bar the size of an aircraft carrier and thinking 'f***ing hell this is what most bars/pubs are going to turn into. I'm afraid I wasn't far wrong. I feel that if the big breweries (at the time) had insisted that all their tenants/landlords set aside one room for smokers only this might of sated the governments wish to Ban smoking in the first place, of course in this day & age of health & safety zealots it would probably be overturned today. Oh & I don't smoke & haven't in 15 years!!

When I was young I went down the pub 7 days a week but now never. I still drink indoors but going to pubs no longer appeals to me. On the continent people go to bars to socialise with their friends but in Britain a lot of people go to the pub with the intention of getting drunk which puts me off.

Drinking indoors whatever the price is boring,I'm retired live in a village and support my local usually four times a week,ok its not cheap but it's worth it for the banter and sports talk that makes a pub what it is, a social place to go and meet ones mates.Long live the British Pub.

i dont mind a drink indoors, never thought id say that when i was in my 20's....but now 38, i do a bit of both. but its not like a boring quiet drink....i play music loud with the mrs, talk about our future etc, be silly....have a laugh...

Now everyone goes gym instead, or zumba, or is too broke to do either.

Im sure the land rent or the breweries charge the pub landlords through the roof hence the high pint prices but....wow....a pint of Fosters local now is £3 plus....PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

A tenner in yer back pocket was enough for a half decent night out only twenty years ago. What is it now? £30 or £40. And that's just the booze. Factor in chips, taxi and prostitute you've gotta be saying goodbye to at least £70.

Hardly ever, usually only for special occasions or after matches (and I live across the road from a pub I haven't stepped into in three or four years!).

Up till I was 50 I was never out of the pub, or as my sister says "My favourite watering hole!"

Sadly since then my appearances have dwindled due to ill health (Parkinsons and Diabetes) and the medication thereof.... it's been over a year now.

I miss the banter, camaraderie, buzz and excitement of an after work sesh, that turns into a curry/casino/club situation, or an England game with your mates.

One pub called the George in Backwell nr Bristol was one of the best pubs ever... I would get in there at 5pm with a good mate, put on "The Boys Are Back In Town" on the jukey, order 2 pints of Kroney and a bag of scratchings (shared with the landlords dog) and get on the pool table. Some nights the landlord had to phone my mrs to come and drive me home I was enjoying it so much!

Happy days........... I miss them....... my mrs doesn't!
