My line manager is getting married in a few months and she has invited me to the reception. When my mate got married, I bunged some money in an envelope and handed it to him like I was completing some shady deal. Do I do the same with my line manager or just say that me turning up was a gift in itself?

Have you asked her if she has a wedding list? Usually, these are with one of the big stores and you just go online, check out their list and purchase whatever you want to afford for her. Shop wraps the gift and delivers it to her.

Cash in a brown envelope could be misconstrued with a woman - especially if she's your boss......

2.. Going to a wedding again in Middle East (my boss) in March, this bloke is a billionaire...met his Mrs couple of times ...WTF do I buy them....this one is slightly different cos I'm going on their honeymoon on a 2/3 month round the world tour (no I ain't gonna show him what to do,he knows that bit already)

John Lewis vouchers. They bring the ladies to near orgasm.

large store or personal wedding lists are both useful. There will be a range of gifts to suit all pockets. You may get an opportunity to supplement something that is already in use - getting an extra attachment for a food processor is one example. Regarding the middle East and a wealthy host, I am stuck. You could think along the lines of new home, and lots of travel. Wallet/purse with his and hers keyrings, supplemented by cash - pounds and Euros (or whatever) at one pound or one Euro per month of courtship. You have the option to go higher per month or use days depending on length of courtship. Good Luck.

For multi million/billionaires, small but personal is probably the best way to go.... some good ideas here:

All you need is a gift tag. Write your name on it and locate a bulky looking present on the day to swap it over with.
