No I don't agree with many of the points made by "JamieMartin".

Regarding free movement of Labour, admittedly Norway signed up for this but it certainly doesn't mean that the UK would do so. It is inconceivable that we would leave the EU yet allow the 'Status Quo' , as this whole issue is central to BREXIT.
We simply cannot compare Norway to the UK.

Regards the 'European Court Of Justice' they can interfere with our ability to deport criminals whose presence in our country is NOT conducive to the good of the public. The ECJ have the ultimate authority over whether we can remove such reprobates.Furthermore the ECJ can use the "Charter of Fundamental Rights' to overturn decisions of our elected politicians on asylum policy

As indeed do I. It was a farce of a reply that even conflated the ECJ with the ECHR - erm.... OK! I'm hungry, so I would rather cook and eat than dismantle the (indeed) "piffle" offered as rebuttal to Willo's comments.

What I will say, however, is that despite your list, Willo, of these elements of the EU-UK relationship, it matters not one iota whether Leave are on the right side of history....

Money and big-business interests talk, and right now, they (JP Morgan, Bank of America, Goldmann Sachs, Morgan Stanley) talk in the form of 5-figure donations to the Remain camp. That's just the quasi-transparent money trail. You bet there's more going on under the table.

Last week it was 4/1 and 1/7 for exit or stay, now it's 5/2 and 2/7.

IF they get the stay vote then the EU will do what ever they want,we wont have a chance to change anything ever again, and if we complain we will just be told that it is what we voted for.
WE HAVE JUST THIS ONE CHANCE.

Regardless of your side, you should appreciate the EU as a force for peace.

100 years ago, this coming July 1st, 60,000 British soldiers were marched to their death on the first morning of the Battle of the Somme.

Simply inconceivable now that we could be at war with Germany and the European Union should take a lot of credit for that.

Simply inconceivable now that we could be controlled by Germany and the European Union should take all of credit for that.

Saying the EU is a force for peace is absolute bollocks.

After World War 2 the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) was formed, uniting most of the western European countries with the USA and Canada with a militarily common and co-operation plan. That has been what has kept the peace in Europe, not the EU.

In fact, it was the EU's meddling in Ukraine, antagonising the Russians that has caused the bloodshed in Crimea.

Boris disagrees with you:

""It was his [Churchill] idea to bring these countries together. To bind them so indissolubly that they could never go to war again. And who can deny today that this idea has been a spectacular success? Together with NATO (another institution for which he can claim joint credit) the European Community, now Union, has delivered a period of peace and prosperity for its people as long as any since the days of the Antonine emperors”.

Churchill days how many foreign-born nationals lived in European countries? How many immigrants were in Britain?

How many foreign born nationals ruled their own country in the Days of Churchill. Its a bit rich to use Churchill and that era of British History as an argument on migration and foreign influence, given the then existence of the British Empire.

I think, in our time, he would be considered a racist and a bit of a supremacist, but certainly not for his own era. By our Modern standards, the likes of Pitt would be probably considered racist, and he abolished the UK Slave trade.

Its brutally unfair to compare people in other eras to our own sensibilities.

Not really, true. The driving force behind the first world war was Imperialism and colonialism. Effectively as the European powers and world changed, the economic and power interests of these waning powers, shifted dramatically with the rise of national liberation movements in the colonies and the desire for self rule.

This creates a Europe in which the need to compete for resources generated a mutual shared interest among the major European power basis, along with the threat of communism and fascism, to bring them closer together (both effectively being anti-capitalist movements - that threatened the status quo of the 'ruling elite').

It would be churlish to imagine that the EU somehow kept the peace. What kept the peace was a shift in global power (to the US), the collapse of imperialism to US capitalism and the threat of the soviet and sino-communists, to that new capital imperialism.
