This bit is key for me. Laws are laws and people should expect to abide by them wherever they are in the world. No exemption should be made in a country's laws because of any cultural difference. To have exceptions in the laws to pander to cultural differences is a form of discrimination, albeit a form of discrimination some people feel is acceptable in a naive quest to appear progressive.

I am not suggesting for one second that all followers of XYZ religion are incapable of following the laws though. Of course not. I'm also not suggesting that followers of other religions are perfect or compliant either in this country or in another one.

Its why its vital to completely separate religion from political influence and especially legal influence, as it serves to protect the greater good of society from the abuse of religion in order to oppress and control others. I saw a guy on the internet once who had had his scrotum injected with something. Filled it up and ironed out the wrinkles. It doesn't last though. I think it's similar to bodybuilders using Synthol to make their biceps bigger.
