Save that SA is the home to Mecca and Medina. Much hatred of the West that was said to be one of the important features that gave birth to Al Quieda was that, in the 1st Gulf War, some coalition troops had to be stationed in Arabia. The same principles apply to oil workers and exploitation of this resource by western companies. Infidels merely standing on holy soil was enough to inflame significant portions of the Islamic world.

Imagine if you are proposing an attack on Arabia? You will ignite the entire Muslim world - moderate or otherwise - there are quite a lot of them.

It will never happen.

Never is a long time.

If we are going to generally blame Muslims/Islam for the 1% of nutters who follow the Wahhabi creed to its violent and child murdering ends then we will also have to blame Protestants and Loyalists for IRA bombs/killing back in the day for they too were part of a same religion.

Said it before: the military and world governments have to directly target the extreme and terrorist-inclined sects of Islam. There are Wahhabi schools in places like Indonesia that at this minute are brainwashing children to have a 'martyr's' end.

Whilst I agree with both of you that the vast majority of Muslims are not terrorists, it is as plain as day that the vast majority of terrorists today are Muslims.

I am a "lefty" with Muslim friends, and after the slaughter of 84 innocent people, plus hundreds injured, I am not concerned who I offend by saying so.

This is the dilemma we face.

One wonders how many more attacks will take place before the authorities, particularly in France take more drastic action.
Perhaps governments should have thought about this when they allowed millions of Muslims to live in Europe when we are enemies with regimes that some of them are likely to support.

What action though? This and the Paris attacks were homegrown, radicalised muslims.

It's impossible to kill an idea.

You have a large amount of is returning from Syria/Iraq because they are getting their arses kicked in Iraq now.
They can't hack real fighting so the y have to resort to the cowardly killing of women and children, f***ing w***ers the lot of them.

I wonder if France had put restrictions on Charlie Hebdo it would've stopped that attack and the series of attacks after. I know it goes against the grain of French society but do you think preventing the right to insult rather than the right to freedom of speech was worth risking kick-starting these attacks and risking lives?

I know the attacks now are driven by frustration and hatred from lack of opportunities for young Muslims and that extremists want to divide European and Muslim communities with attacks, but the threat levels have heightened since the Hebdo attacks.

P.S - I am in no way a sympathiser and I struggle to understand how people were/are insulted by pictures of a prophet Muhammed, but some are, and with such religious fervour, why not just respect their belief and leave it? It COULD save some of the problems.

(I remember people comparing prophets to invented characters like Spiderman and I saw their point of view. But if something is so sacred and with so much religious fervour, I would think respecting it would be a wiser option.)

This is disgusting. You are an apologist who believes the west should change to suit murderers and terrorists. How dare you.

Not how they see it. Virtuous women and innocent children who are killed will go to paradise. Only the "wicked" will be punished. Think Europe in the Middle Ages and you have their level. The difference is they have received modern education and enlightenment. The difference between amoral and immoral. Thus I wholly agree your well put assessment.

They won't.

They are stuck in a perpetual medieval world perpetuated by the religion itself and they aren't alone.

I'm really not interested in bulls*** religion and the whys and wherefores of it. I just want to protect innocent citizens by all means necessary. We need to stop people from carrying out these attacks and I don't care what passport they carry or if their mum is nice.

Genuinely, plenty of people have been killed during Christian religious conflicts - perhaps too many to even estimate.
I would suspect more Christians have killed Christians than Muslims have ever killed anyone. For instance, people were burned or stoned for failing to memorise specific phrases in the Bible, which was in Latin. Not just in places like Spain either, in England too. and not as early as you might think: people are still fighting over being Protestant or Catholic at this very moment.
I would like to see far more condemnation from leading Islamics and leading Islamic countries, however, as I believe that not doing anything about their religious zealots is tantamount to complicity in these attacks.

I don't think so, do you have a source for that?
