I can agree with your point but don't forget Manchester City are doing the same at the Etihad! They pay £2m a tear rent and pay £1m a year from the 10 year naming deal which they received £50m for.

The Stadium was built for the Commonwealth Games and like the Olympic Stadium was converted by the taxpayer. It us about to go through another expansion at the taxpayers expense which is worse when you consider how rich they are.

Of course this is more normal abroad, lots of councils own the football grounds.

But whole everyone is upset about West Ham, Manchester City roll their eyes and keep schtum.

Man City bought the stadium from the council a few years ago, allowing them full reign over bringing in a stadium sponsor (Etihad).

I agree that West Ham have had a shocker moving to the Olympic Stadium. Crap experience for football.

We need to redevelop Selhurst Park quickly, as it's shyte. Enough talk, but very little action!

some parts are about 1m some upto about 6m

next time i go which may be palace game i will take pic

The ball boys sitting on the ground have their legs stretched out about 1m from the advertising boards, and there's a further gap between them and the front row. 6m would probably be more accurate as the minimum distance you can be from the pitch.

Couldn't agree more. This name must stick!

The Guardian has taken to calling West Ham "Taxpayers FC". As far as playing in a gift of a stadium paid for by the public, don't forget that the Emptihad was given to Man City in very similar circumstances.

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.
