No he didn't. Look at Beastie's quote just above for what he actually said

Such a bizarre quote is definitely worth comment.

I think most people would see it as staggeringly arrogant.

I disagree as I'm sure that most non Pardew haters would view it as no more than clumsy.

Pardew is a football manager and not a diplomat and most Palace fans will be aware that he is not a polished public speaker

Anyone who thinks this was just a slip of the tongue or due to not being practised at public speaking is being wildly naive. Pardew's been in top level football long enough to know everything he says and does will be analysed, especially when the spotlight's already firmly on him.

I think what's been going on behind the scenes has been made clear by his actions after the game. The way I see it is that the Americans, alarmed by 2016's disastrous form, have been pushing to see AP replaced. Parish has resisted this and urged them to give him until the Hull game. After the Swansea debacle the pressure increased and AP was staring down the barrel, with only Parish prepared to give him more time.

Getting the win yesterday was justification (to a point) of Parish's stance and Padrew wanted to stick two fingers up at the Yanks by publicly thanking Parish and having a pop at Harris & Blitzer with his "don't know a lot about football" remark. I can only imagine how Parish felt about that comment, stuck as he is in the middle of AP & the Americans.

I am sure the Americans will have noted that remark and will look to force Parish's hand if and when the next bad run comes along. The problem is if we limp along to Christmas picking up enough points to just about keep Pardew safe, only to embark on another shocking run in the new year when Big Sam has been snapped up by another club in trouble, and it's too late for a new man to use the January window effectively.

The result yesterday was great for the Parish/Pardew axis and puts daylight between us and the bottom 3, but unless it continues, may prove to be unhelpful to the club's long-term prospects this season.

I suspect that that's pretty much the truth of it. For Pardew, trying to play off members of the board against each other could ultimately prove to be a dangerous game.

I believe that Pardew had his own media consultant when he was at Newcastle, such was his poor performances in front of the media but perhaps I'm just being wildly naive

What's all this stuff about Big Sam?

He will get back somewhere altho he is getting on but with what SP is trying to build definitely not.

Not that he is a bad guy don't think that he was contrite.

Pards just belt up ok

It's not just losing 6 on the trot though is it? It's the worst form in 2016 of any team in all 4 divisions, and an alarming tendency to go on horrific runs.

I don't believe many managers would survive form like that, Big Sam or otherwise.

I think he knew exactly what he was doing and was sending a message to the Americans to back off. Whether that backfires or not remains to be seen, but I can't imagine they're happy about being publicly told they know nothing about football by their employee, and I suspect they'll demand Pardew's head when the next dodgy run comes along.

Do people on here truly believe that what Pardew said was a 'calculated' attack on the American investors as far as he was concerned ? Do you believe he had pre-planned what he said ?

I'm genuinely not sure. does seem a daft thing to say if it wasn't planned and he doesn't strike me as daft. That's not to say he said it in order to get the sack and a pay off but there may be other motives behind it.

Common knowledge that Bob Bradley's day's are apparently numbered at Swansea already and that Big Sam is being discussed as a likely replacement.
How many games has Bradley been in charge before they consider sacking him??
Pardew with his staggering poor performance during 2016 is very, very fortunate to have the support of Parish and should not have been so naive or stupid to have insulted the American investors, and may not have the backing should he go on a bad run again.
