Me too I nearly got into a fight.... I mimicked a crying face as we equalised in the last second and this Baggie bloke took offence and tried to climb over the fence to get at me. My mate is a Baggie and we drove back to Bristol after in stony silence as he was gutted we had scored so late too.

I have an idea. Why don't the major European leagues pool refs. They all ref champs league and uefa cup so travel no issue. It would iradicate any bias in these leagues and standardise league football in europe.This would benifit us internationaly and in European competition when we see fouls comitted that wouldnt be given in the pl.

Trivial fact - Palace used to win 5-1 at least once a season, maybe next season? |

So it should either have been a goal, or a penalty and red card Yes photo shows it crossed the line and it can be seen from this angle but the referee had a different angle entirely and had to make a split-second decision in real time.Besides they often have to rely on their assistants for such calls but even they can be un-sighted with players in their line of vision. Regards handling the ball, the above applies and just because a referee hasn't seen an offence from his angle doesn't mean that he is biased and purposely chooses NOT to give the foul.We are all terrific judges when we look at umpteen TV replays from different angles. A few years back I was at a corporate event where Graham Poll was the after dinner speaker. I also sat next to him over dinner. His main frustration (apart from his infamous treble booking incident which cost him refereeing the 2006 World Cup Final) was with the Assistant Referees (Linesmen). They are meant to make decisions, but apart from offsides he said they are reluctant to do so; even who should get a throw in. I am in support of Willo - I do not believe that refs at the top level cheat or show deliberate bias. Even the best referees cannot see everything with the pace of the game. In hindsight and on TV it is easy to be right all the time. Poll admitted he had made mistakes - he is a big fan of video referrals to assist referees. He confirmed that he does have a father, but was not immune to self-pleasuring and therefore some of the fan's chants were not inaccurate.
