Plenty of members of the DUP in the day had associations with groups like the UDA, UVF etc. who were involved in terrorist activities that supported the DUP agenda. Ian Paisley was involved with the formation of several 'milita' in Northern Ireland. Just because they were aimed against the IRA, doesn't mean they weren't a terrorist group. Interesting that forming a coalition with a Nationalist party is ok with Conservatives, given how much fuss they made of the possibility of a SNP and Labour alliance.

Lets not mince words, there are plenty among the loyalist and unionist factions that had as much contact with terrorism as Sinn Fein in the 80s, and groups like the UVF etc took their direction and inspiration from people within the DUP - Esp Ian Paisley. We're just a lot less honest about it.

No they can't claim a victory and they were along way from grabbing the keys to number 10 but they didn't lose seats and sink further into oblivion. They must be feeling very energised by what has happened. Quite. Its not the victory, but its a big win for them in terms of legitimacy. For Corbyn its massive as it does show public support.
