I would like to keep Tomkins but the original reason he left West Ham was to be a starter. While many of us rate him, it seems as if de Boer doesn't certainly not as a starter.

I stated recently on here that I felt Dann was better than Tomkins. I also feel that Tomkins only had a good run when playing along side Sakho (and hey who wouldn't, Sakho could make any defensive partner look good). I think there will be players going and I wouldn't be too disappointed if Tomkins was one of them. Edited by premier fan (08 Aug 2017 9.12pm)

When Sakho got injured against Spurs we were s***e until Tomkins came back and then were a lot steadier again at the back. Of course Dann was also out of it.

One possible reason for Tomkins' lack of pre-season minutes could be that FdB is actually quite happy with him and wants to see what his other options look like. Just a thought.

Even if he's not a starter, if we're playing with 3 CBs this season we're going to need a few of them. Maybe Tomkins doesn't quite fit for FDB, but he's experienced and reliable enough.
