All said and done, the whole FDB thing was a f*cken circus from start to finish. BUT in comparison, seeing ol’ Woy grinning away whilst mentioning his time as a kid on Holmesdale just seems ‘right’ … or ‘wight’ in Woy’s case! Woy has buckets of experience, done well with West Brom & Fulham, knows the Premiership and understands the unique sleeping South London beast that is Crystal Palace. He also did well with England in the qualifiers … and let’s face it, the England team is f*cken sh*te, no matter who manages them. So all in all … he is the best appointment and just wish he had started in the summer.

From the remaining 34 games we'll pick up 36 points and maybe a few more from a few draws.

What that means is that we're relegation fodder once again.

Is this really what we want?

umm,
well, 35% win percentage = about 12 wins from 34 = 35 points.
5 Draws from the remaining 22 games to get us to 40 points should be attainable - if not more!

so yes, at this point this is exactly what we want.

Looking forward to his first press conference and listening to his soothing tones. He's just the calming influence needed at the moment.

Seeing him talking about being a boy at palace made me feel all warm and happy inside.

Love him. Welcome to the palace family Roy

Well Puncheon is of local origin too and he hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire. I'll reserve judgement till I see who's standing next to the ball and the corner flag.

I'm not sure everyone's favourite uncle is what we need, we need someone to sort them out. However, if the alternative is Moyes then he's the better call.

I hope it works for everyone's sake. It does seem a shame that with the season just started, and with the high hopes we had only a few weeks back, we are already back in survival mode.

Anyhow, I will give him a big welcome on Saturday, as I hope most others will, and will also quietly be praying it doesn't all end in tears just before Christmas.

The more i hear about FDB the more i think Parish was right to get rid.

I am pleased that someone of Roy's experience is at our club.

If he can replicate his stints at Fulham and West brom then we will be fine.

I am not inspired in any way shape or form.
At least it is only temporary.

I feel sorry for FdB, because he's just taken on jobs that he shouldn't of. Inter and Palace do not have the structure or history of playing the Ajax way. Having said that a good manager sees what the limitations of his players are and plays to their strengths.
The best manager for Palace was Pulis and we let him go. I honestly believe we would've finished in European places the year Leicester won the league, under Pulis.
The other thing that really irritates me is this whole 'progressive' passing football. Why is passing the ball from the back progressive? How many cups, leagues have been won in the last 20 years by 'progressive' open passing footballing teams? Very few.
We are a counter attacking side, at this moment in time. Instead of trying to completely change us, why not reinforce us with better counterattacking players and let's be one of the best counter attacking sides in the league. That is the key, in my humble opinion, in this league. Swansea, Southampton and Bournemouth aren't the best passing sides in the league, they're average and that's why they don't progress up the table. Leicester for a brief period were the best counter attacking side and they won the league. I'm not for one minute saying we will win the league, but let's be the best at what we do rather than chasing unicorns.
I think Roy will do a great job for btw.

Do this mean at the rather young age of 66 I can put my name down now to become manager in 4 years time or am I too young and will have to wait in the nursery until old enough to watch Palace.

Norfolk - Gods County.......Love life love Palace!!

It's not really about being 'progressive' or open, it's about having possession which also creates chances. I get what Parish is saying. It's not difficult. For decades we've been relying on luck of the bounce for Wright, Bright, AJ, Clinton etc. There has been some good football here and there but so many times you just know that slightly bigger club has the edge because they have control of the ball, possession and number of chances. That is the way. The more you have of that the safer you will be for the long term.

Leicester was a freak. Small clubs surviving is a freak, but they do so playing safety first and then gradually evolving. We could've done that but instead Frank did it in a system that we doomed to fail, and then he had injuries to big players and still did it, as well as making big players like Luka useless and then not picking him at all. It is possible. You need someone who is actually able, patient and going to stick around for 3 windows to build the team to do it. Hopefully more to continue.
