He's going to instantly slot in fully fit, in form, and perfectly, as will everyone to him. He'll score loads. The amount a top 7 club striker scores in prime form, which is what we need. In 8 games, any team that knows we need a win more than them will crumble under the constant pressure of sitting deep and our reliability to keep clean sheets with the ultra reliable Scott Dann and Wardy sitting on the halfway line won't be a problem.

Well enough fine. The good form without results will continue for another 8 games with results. We're going to brush 5 of these 8 teams aside, no problem. God, Roy is going to have to be magnificent this season, rather than just fine.

Just like Pulis was when he took over when we were 19th on 7 pts after 12 games.

Yes. It wasn't expected or 'just fine.' That was a magnificent achievement. As Wilf said, 'every week is a cup final.' Any more 'bad luck' as some refer to it and 'being fine' will be wishful thinking.

I hope they can do it, but expecting it I'm not, unless we win the next 3 to get us onto 12 from 11.

Roy does have the advantage of being here that bit longer and has players coming back from injury; Zaha already and Benteke this month. As he said himself, it's results we need, irrespective of how we play, rather than complements on how good, but unlucky, we were.

This is what I was advocating.
It really was a magnificent achievement but gets lost in some other matters concerning Pulis and our club.

When Coppell joined our club he was getting praise for the way we played, but we weren't picking up results. He resorted to a more direct style with Bright,Wright etc etc and the rest as they say is history.

Theres a lot of Black and white thinking going on this thread...

People make decisions based on their current mindset. Mindsets change over time - what is true one month, may not be true the next. for example, To suppose that this proves that SA lied, and did not quit over the Manc bombings is very simple thinking. In fact in this case, I can make an argument that supports these events. although I could never say for certain that this is what happened...

What someone said 6 months ago being used as a stick to beat them with, is pure sensationalism - especially when dealing with human emotions. Yes, people lie in these situations, but we shouldn't jump straight to that conclusion.

I don't see anything wrong with the way Sam left us, disappointing - yes, wrong - no. If it was to do with the bombings, then it likely would have hit him hard. The first reaction could well be one of 'there are more important things than another relegation fight', but after some time when his life turns back to normal, of course he's going to want to get back to his normal life of being a manager again.

i think the Everton job is Perfect for him. it's the big club chance that he wants, who are in a position where they would actually consider SA as an option. (I still don't really see how he's ended up as a Stay-up Manager) He'd be mad not to consider it. but sheesh, he's got a lot of work to do there.

Good luck to him.

Hopefully, although he's pencilled in for the week after, against Stoke. Plus is he likely to be straight back in the starting line up after so long?

Might be a target for Sam at Everton as the Lukaku replacement. That would be typical.

I don't see the problem with him either...
To be honest, I HOPE he goes to Everton, which means +£2m for our wallet, which means we can use those money to strengthen the team!
I care for our business, not his or their...

Good all round, if we can get back close to what we paid for him and buy two 15 million pound strikers with the money.
