Fortunately all the hate I seem to see on here is coming from the atheists.

Jesus on the Cross said to the robber hanging next to him, "This day shalt thou be with Me in Paradise".

It was Man who chose to put Him there. (Lots of atheists think Christians think God determines everything; actually, Man has free choice to follow His will or not).

Well that must have been comforting. Good thing he didn't mention who put him there.

Matthew 24:36

But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.

Of course man has will again a normal trait to have.

As a recovering Catholic It was always preached that God knows everything, from your personal thoughts to the end of the world.

Men did put Jesus on the cross, but god with all his power didn't intervene reason being doesn't exist.

A lot of what traditional Catholicism (and Anglicanism) used to preach (and still does) was the kind of bollocks that uses religion to justify anything from slavery through capital punishment to child abuse. Exactly what I am complaining about. It isn't surprising that you've got a problem with it if you were taught s***e like that.

My own belief is that God only knows my thoughts because I trust Him and choose to share them with Him. I have the choice not to do that. "God is omniscient" was of course twisted by Churches and others to control people, which is not Christian behaviour and is not what God does.

We all make bad choices in life, otherwise we wouldn't be human

I think He did, didn't He? "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do".

No it doesn't. Do you think "You don't know what you're doing" means:

a) someone else is controlling you, or
b) you are making mistakes?

This is just a case of twisting words in order to score points. Pathetic.

Quite glad this didn't turn out to be another Benteke bashing thread . . .

You can't sum up a religion - or some of it's followers - based only on a few interactions. I'm agnostic, but I know good people - and complete tossers - who are Catholic, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, JW etc.

My main grip with certain strands of faith is the need to ram it down another';s throat. You are welcome to your beliefs and doctrine, just don't expect me to convert based on you shouting at me in the street or doorstopping me.

The Bible teaches that there is no free will. Examining Exodus, Ecclesiastes 7, Ephesians 1, Ephesians 2, Matthew 5:45, Acts 13, Romans 8, Roman 9, 2 Timothy, 2 Thessalonians, Titus 3:4-5 and Revelations, we see that God's plan overrides our free will; those that do good do the specific good that God predestined them to do, and all others are ruled by Satan because God sends "powerful delusions" to them.

I won't stoop to calling your views pathetic, but as a non judgemental anti - theist, I won't hold it against you

I didn't call anyone's views pathetic, just the argument.

You only do the good that God intends if you follow Him. You are free to choose not to. Of coirse we make choices all the time and I don't feel "controlled" in any way, after all if all I did were to God's micromanagement I'd never make mistakes. But some people have been mafe to feel like guilty slaves by their religious leaders and teachers, or by "Christian" parents, and that is wrong.

The universe was created nearly fourteen billion years ago.....Earth has been here for approximately 4.5 billion years......Humans, in today's form, are only....at most half a million years and probably somewhere between that and only 200, 000 years old.

It can't be more plain that the Earth wasn't created for humans.....we were lucky enough to evolve.

Then a cleric class writes a book a few thousand years ago.....one of many religious books written all over the world.....then it gets added to, as you'd expect.

Apparently God loves us....but he can't even to bothered to tell us to wash our hands to stop the easy transmission of disease and lots of other easy tips like cleaning your water supply.....but hey....he's big on your sex life and how often you pray.....for some reason God needs constant reassurance that we like him.......when in reality it was the cleric class who needed it.

It really would be better if more of us wanted to think logically about the universe and nature and how religion came about instead of wanting to follow simplistic nonsensical explanations about some unseen unprovable entity.

Ok! So it's just my argument that's pathetic. That makes me feel a whole lot better.
