Damm that's a good point however I stand by my comments.

Do the Irish really celebrate the life of St Patrick on that day or do they celebrate their Irishness / nationality?

In church they will definitely celebrate the life of St Patrick. patron Saint of Immigrants (and of Nigeria I believe). He is widely regarded as having converted Ireland to Christianity so will certainly be celebrated by quite a lot of people in what is a devout nation.

What do you expect? It's Bill De Blasio a man so far to the left he make Khan London's Mayor look like Maggie. There was trouble earlier last year when it was suggested that a convicted terrorist lead the Puerto Rican parade but withdrew after prominent business sponsors pulled money from the parade.
De Blasio is a scumbag.

I hope Corbyn is similarly honoured - maybe next year? The things that man did for the peace process. Tireless. Relentless.

So you condone murder and celebrate murderers?

gerry and maggie were murderous monsters. Which one killed more people ? which one fought to defend (or payback on) their own people from Bloody Sunday attack ? which one fought for corporate/investor interests in far away corners of the globe ? which one was an imperialist aggressor ?

both ugly. both monsters. both wrong.

Hmmm. The trouble is that the not very 'Independent' just uses this kind of propaganda to excuse away Jeremy Corbyn and John McDonnell. I don't have the bigger picture of Thatcher and her associations but I do know that Adams and his friends killed plenty of British people and tried to undermine democracy with violence.
I'm not sure the comparison with Thatcher will stand too much scrutiny there but I won't defend Thatcher unconditionally, neither will I condemn without the full facts.
