And probably information to tell them rests are needed. How many sports are their where pros go full pelt like they do for 9 months with 6 weeks training beforehand? Don’t say tennis because they’re sitting out tournaments when they can and there are gaps anyway.

The NHL ice hockey season is brutal. 82 games in 6 months plus playoffs, tons of high speed contact. F@@k the Winter Break.

I can't see the TV deals collapsing in value just because of a 12 day run with no Prem games. It's no different to an international window at present.

I agree, but that's why they've proposed this staggered break. For TV.

I say we move the League Cup final to that weekend and it's tough titties on the two that make it to the final. No break for them.

Yes it is faster but there has been an advancement in sports science, nutrition, rest and recuperation methodologies etc etc.

That just means that players are now akin to thorobreds and more likely to breakdown...so i guess it will help us more esp to recover from injuries

And how many of the "big" clubs will actually have a break? They will play exhibition matches in the far east/USA and then continue to moan that they play too many games.

As I understand it, as part of this ridiculous idea (IMHO), they're going to scrap all FA Cup replays from the 3rd round onwards. For so many smaller clubs, a lucrative replay at a top club is often pivotal to their survival.

For me, it's the little clubs that are the losers here and for that I am very sad.

My understanding is that there will still be replays in 3rd and 4th rounds but none from the 5th round when perhaps the smaller clubs will have already been eliminated.

I hope you're right Willo but it seems to be a distinct possibility (eg.):

This will not be allowed. Holidays and warm weather training only, no fixtures.

All I have read is that any agreement to play matches will not be well received which is a bit different from not being allowed.

It is 5th round onward. Which even this season alone would've deprived Rochdale of a TV replay versus Spurs, at Wembley. Big money.

They will have to do this, or it's not a break and the TV companies will demand it reverts back.
