I have a bias towards characters I know as white remaining white but I've no issue with the best getting the role.....I suppose if we had a stream of black actors playing Bond I'd bulk at it......If I find the idea of a 'white shaft' amusing for a movie, I'd watch a black Bond. If Elba screen tests best for the role let him play it.....we must be a meritocracy.....free from diversity targets but genuine on merit. However, I'd heavily object to it if I felt it was being done for a political agenda.......just to 'educate'....it would destroy it....like the progressives and bad writers destroyed Star Wars. No, I think it depends if you are after a limited but loyal audience or the wider market. I don't say that only Black people will go and see these productions but it will limit the audience in a way that a mixed race cast wouldn't. The only meltdown going on appears to be in the minds of progressives as they try to enforce their loopy logic on everyone else.
