Is this the same Solskjaer who only won 5 out of 25 league games when he was manager of Cardiff ? What have Man Utd come to ?

I feel sorry for Mourinho in someways because these big clubs seem to have a lot of players who develop player power because of their huge transfer fees and then you have fans power they all think they are bigger than the club, Mourinho on the other Is an arrogant s*** and sometimes he doesnt know when to kept his mouth shut and deal with things behind closed doors his sacking is no surprise to be honest it has been on the cards for a long time . .What really bugs me is the arrogant of the fans, we saw it with Arsenal last season now Utd this season, their fans expect to win every game a few minor bad results or the results don’t go the way they start throwing their toys out of their pram, not true supports in my eyes they only support a club because of its success.

The final push out the door was nothing more than to save face over the on-going embarrassing saga of Paul Pogba - unfortunately he has more firepower as he has trendy haircuts and is sponsored by a shoe which, unfortunately, what matters in modern football.

True, Mourinho was from the past when managers had personalities (even if his was annoying).

Cloughie wouldn't be able, or would refuse, to manage a PL club these days because of this player power.

Some odd posts on this page, trying to find reasons other than Mourinho is sh1t, he isn’t delivering after spending fortunes and never will. The global brand suffering because of his boring football, especially after losses and failure is no doubt a factor too. Who’d want to watch that in the middle of the night or middle of the day, especially if you’re a casual viewer, which many are.

True....Personally speaking, I don’t think Mourinho is sh1t as you put it, the problem is Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester Utd Chelsea have all had successfully managers in the past who have started the clubs prospective success. In the 60,70s manager were never under as much pressure as they are today, there were the few characters in Brian Clough, Bill Shanky, would they they survive today if they were manager the answer to that is No. Players know that when a top club is interested they can hold them to ransom with their demands and straight away the power shifts to the player. Manchester Utd like Arsenal have had the two longest serving managers in Premiership history the fans have been spoilt with these managers success now when change has occurred they don’t like it and starlight away you now have fan power. Whoever follows in the footsteps of Alex Ferguson is going to be up against the wall straight away because the fans insist on instant success. As mentioned Mourinho is not a bad manager and like players manager don’t come bad overnight but with Mourinho case he needs to button his lip and let his football knowledge speak.

Both Van Gaal and Mourinho arrived at Man Utd with stellar records but Van Gaal only lasted 2 seasons and Mourinho was removed from office in his 3rd season.

One thing I have noticed from the ex United players and pundits is the claim that United sacking managers is unusual, not the united way etc.

Well if you go back to when Sir Matt Busby retired its exactly that. Right up until they got Sir Alex United were sacking managers left right and centre. Sir Alex only saved his job because he scraped a draw in the FA Cup final against us and then won the replay by a single goal.

The simple truth is that after failing miserable for 20 plus years they finally found a manager (Sir Alex) who was up the task. History is now repeating itself so this is very much the United way as it is with every other club.

After Busby retired, Man Utd had 4 managers in fifteen and a half years before Ferguson was appointed. The managers were O'Farrell,Docherty,Sexton and Atkinson.O'Farrell didn't last long but I think some of the others had 4/5 year stints.

My wife and I have a long running debate about whether Jose would be a good Palace manager. He seems to like us based on some nice things he's said in the past but I don't actually think it's realistic he'd come, were Roy to get the boot.

Personally I would love to see him as Palace boss. He's an absolute plonker, but one who I can't help love a little bit. It would be a wild ride for probably only a season or two but it would be worth it and I think we'd get some great results until it inevitably went sour. She thinks that he'd be a disaster. We've always thrived when our dressing room has been united and one thing he always does is cause division which is a fair point. Can't help but want to find out who's right.

You won't achieve much as a Man Utd manager with its entitlement philosophy and you will be living in the shadow of Busby, Ferguson etc.

If you win a title or the Cup you are continuing a tradition not breaking new ground, it is what they expected anyway.

Interesting to compare the 400 million transfer pot of United and ours (nil) !!!!

So if it is United 0 Palace 0 who is the better, us I would say.

Well done us !!
