What a silly thing to say.
Where you put your X on polling day takes us a lot closer than any in charge now.

And 'Saturday Scene' with the young and buxom Sally James.

(Edit: was one of the best things ITV ever did alongside The World at War and The Sweeney)

I think it's only fair to say that Britain had a bit of help in defeating Germany and also its allies.

With our money.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

We have the sense of humour, Germany are the serious country.

This reminds me of the funny new tv advert where the scouse comedian impersonates an imaginary scouse woman on a dating website.

‘I’m looking for a man with no money worries who doesn’t take himself too seriously. I think you wanna be a bit more realistic there luv and stick with one of those because the 2 are mutually exclusive.’

My friend is a historian who studied Mussolini but has a decent interest in Hitler. He was fascinated by the British Empire and truly believed we would join him against the Reds.
His favourite films were British Empire ones 'The Drum' springs to mind. He had a cinema in the Berghoff and would force his acolytes to watch the films with him. In The Drum a lone British policeman foils an African Rebellion by having better values and being steadfast.
He regularly berated his generals, failing to understand how the British Empire differed from his Nazi state. He complained 'Britain controls 400 million in India with 40,000 men, yet you cannot control Poland with a million soldiers'.
I have to admit to finding it hilarious and pretty damning.

on a serious note I'll get called all sorts by the 'patriots' on here but the mass famines in India under the raj are a dark stain on this country and Churchill's attitude to Bangladesh is vile and inhumane, without the proactive sadism of the Nazis, but utterly callous and indifferent to human suffering. we could do with a bit of revisionism - not snowflake apologies but just an intelligent understanding that at times we have been the bad guys - it goes back to the beginning I believe, the English invaded England and were just as horrible as the normans, Vikings and romans, that's why celts are still defensive towards us, our dominance is still perceived as a threat to their language and identity, it's not just small minded parochialism or some silly nostalgia for a dead culture. too many today hang on to our war glory while others have moved on and grown up.

Too right you deserve criticism. What books have you been reading!

The British in India reduced famines and the population increased massively due to our reforms.

Frankly you are talking nonsense.

Compared to any other empire I can think of the British were great.

As for your confusion as to what the English are....I'm at a lost for words.
