Will have a listen. But that is a great line. Issue is the amount of time we all seem to spend looking at screens. Perhaps it is the Covid lockdown and having more time on my hands but I have realised how much more agressive I have become of late and have been trying to understand.

This idea of social media deliberately being structured to make us more angry makes so much sense. Even message boards like this which I guess where an original form of social media in many ways.

Reckon I need to take a break from them all. Not sure how much good it is doing me.

Ditto. I don't help myself either sometimes! I'd say that's part due to at least being somewhat susceptible to the 'pick your reality' process, but also noticing the same in others. And we're far more liable to point the finger at others for blinkered perspectives than to question our own shortcomings in that department, so it continues on and on.. It's both pointless and torturous beyond a point and nobody gains anything from it.

These platforms aren't there for our benefit, and so maybe it's naive of us to have ever viewed them as benign. While message board 'don't have to' be as bad, we're all so plugged into social media and everything that spills out of it in terms of tone, groupthink, and content that it's easy to carry it across anyway. And the same goes for the 'real world'. A sorry state of affairs!

A friend of mine recently went from being obsessed with national events on 24 hour news networks and the online and media whirlwind that accompanies it, to opting out entirely. While that's an extreme, I can certainly see a rationale in taking a step back from the social platforms and pushed perspectives that feed our worst impulses, and maybe viewing life far more on a local and reciprocal level for a bit. That kind of everyday 'take as you find' might wake us somewhat from our digital daze and unnecessarily sweeping perspectives of others.

It is too close to call but the Democrats must wonder where they have gone wrong again even if they do sneak over the line - which I suspect that they will.
They still ignore the ordinary U.S. citizen and even if they win they will have real problems if they don't change their tune.
Trump however is also a an arse - his mouth opens and he just spouts S***t!
I generally think he is better for the U.S. than Biden but it doesn't stop him behaving very badly indeed when he speaks.
Their postal vote system is rubbish - they should be dated no later than the end of October really and whilst he shouldn't accuse I do wonder whether the postal votes are possibly a little "crooked"
Win or lose the Democrats have again been taught a lesson that political arrogance is not wanted.
The Divided not the United States once again.

There are independent adjudicators checking the validity of votes and seeking to build mistrust in their integrity is a disgraceful tactic by Trump.

I have long believed that the US system is no longer fit for purpose and this mess just confirms that.

Until that is dealt with the divisions are never going to be healed. It is quite frankly ridiculous that a President can lose the popular vote yet can still win.

How that can be achieved though? It looks impossible to me and the continuing decline of the USA an inevitable consequence.

Your Shakespearean quote right at the end of this post (from Hamlet, I believe) is bang on the money, Wisbech.

Why do you think Trump's been "draining the swamp" all this time?

Do try to keep up.

Enough of us have tried to illustrate this to you but you've been very stubborn.

You are right, but only about the quote's source.

The rot exists in the growth of populism. In the reliance on social media for information and the deliberate undermining of the MSM by Trump.

Trump has fostered an equivalence of lies, his opinions and real facts.

The "swamp" exists in a political system which allows money to dominate over ethics and wisdom. Draining it is needed but Trump has not even attempted to do that. He has just added a new layer of muck.

Ever heard about degrees?

Being economical with the truth is done by every politician.

Trump just lies. So quite rightly he gets more harshly treated. That he then complains is just part of his strategy to establish equivalence.

Don't fall for it like the dumb Trumpkins do in the USA.

Interesting that no one considers the lives and prospects of American voters might have improved in the last four years. Instead they’re all brain dead morons who’ve fallen for a criminal’s lies.

It seems like its all hanging in the balance in Michigan.

The only place left in Michigan with a significant population and a significant number of votes left to announce and is likely to be pro Biden is a county called Wayne.

650kish population. 75%ish votes counted . 70%ish in favour of Biden.

It's like Hitler in the bunker in down fall waiting to find out where all his armies have gone.

Things have come to a pretty pass, if a candidate with the most votes wins an election.

Whatever next, votes for women?

What's the voltage setting on your one currently set at?
