Important point on making season null and void

I see three scenarios and none of those involve finishing the Season. 1) Eventually due to ongoing and insurmountable issues they take the sensible decision and the season is abandoned...null and void with no title and no relegations. 2) A decision is made not to restart the season however Liverpool are awarded the title and other positions are decided on a points per game basis. 3) They attempt to restart the season and get a game or two played before a player (or players) test COVID positive and the season comes to an abrupt halt again, whereby (so long as Liverpool have by then mathematically clinched the title) the season will be drawn to a close and the remainder of positions decided by points per game. (With lots of legal action to follow in all three scenarios)

Spare a thought for Macclesfield fans they have just been given their second points deduction of the season. The first of many clubs to be in real trouble I fear. These issues were before the stoppage though but yes many will be up the creek without one.

Finishing the PL season (although money-driven), always looked a bit dodgy on the public health issues. It can only be a matter of time before the outcomes of discussions with clubs and the EPL are made public, and a mathematical resolution is agreed to league placement. End of season must be announced before another ball is kicked.

And when the PL decision is announced, the outcome must be replicated throughout the leagues and non-leagues,..is my opinion

In light of Dynamo Dresden it must be delayed or written off. Seems to me football struggles with decisions. Always has.

What's good for the goose is not necessarily good for the gander.

The non league has been cancelled already I think and League 1/2 don't think they can play behind Closed doors? Typically unlike in Germany it's all disorganised and no one can agree on how to work it.

Agreed the PL is not thinking about the good of the game and I suspect some would be more than happy if the EFL was too diminish as they begrudge giving them TV money and would prefer a no relegation competition. If the PL decides that there will be no relegation this season it's a domino effect my guess is that the EFL will be forced to do the same. And of course you have to ask the obvious question where is the FA in all of this. The reality is that football in this country will be decided by 16 PL clubs who couldn't care less about the lower leagues meanwhile the so called body responsible for the game is powerless. A third Brighton player tests positive for CV19 "A third Brighton player has tested positive for coronavirus. The unnamed player, who will now self isolate for 14 days, was tested on Saturday - two other players tested positive earlier in the pandemic. Brighton players have been training individually at the training ground and the club say this will be allowed to continue. Premier League clubs are due to meet on Monday for more discussions about their proposed Project Restart plan." (BBC website) It's an absolute farce. People's lives are (potentially) going to put at risk,...for football. Does 'common sense' really need to be voted on ? I hope the results of Monday's vote are made public.

It is supposed to be the governing authority of football and yet it allows the PL and to a lesser extent the PFA to decide the big decisions. I would hope that the Sports Minister will carry out the threat and appoint a new governing body. This will be problematic short term as the new FA will be expelled from FIFA but given time it will work out. As for the PL and the big boys they have the right to withdraw from sanction football and do a Kerry Packer but if they do I suspect the rest of us will say good riddance.

And Steve Parish slightly back-tracking on what he said the other day , about 'we can finish the season'. errr, actually, maybe we can't. "Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish says that unless Premier League clubs can find a way to stage matches soon, it may be a “very, very extended period” before the top flight returns. Speaking on BBC One’s Andrew Marr Show, Parish said that initial plans for league matches to be staged again from June may prove unfeasible. “We would be derelict in our duty if we didn’t find a way to try and bring the game back,” he said. “It may prove beyond us.” (BBC wesite) No 5hlt, Sherlock
