Gladly the cross eyed bear. That’s a younger man’s burden. After a few pints these days I need a calendar rather than a stop watch.

Ha ha good one

Not missing it either.

Missing my mates who I see there though,

I have to say that at the moment I'm not missing football that much. I usually find the close season a bit of a relief after enduring another nerve racking year of watching Palace. It's just a come a bit sooner than expected.

I miss the Saturday games - escape from the missus. I miss the evenings watching snooker and was looking forward to the rest of the six nations. I had also wanted to perv over the female tennis players and female athletes at the Olympics but probably better not post that here.

To fill the void, I have been viewing umpteen videos of the tactical approach of Marcelo Bielsa, his 3-3-1-3 and his 4-2-1-3 amongst others etc etc etc.

Also the tactical approaches of Arrigo Sacchi,Ancelotti,Guardiola and a host of other famous managers. All formations, diagrams and arrows !

I have studied these managers for years but I am always open to broadening my knowledge.

Roy Hodgson is of course vastly experienced having been a manager since 1976 and managed at International level.
He is very well respected in the game and has a detailed knowledge of the tactics and tactical approaches of all the top managers both current and present.
