I will throw another name in the hat of possible replacements, Roger Schmidt of PSV. A manager in the mould of Hussenhuttl. High pressing, fast attacking. Job at PSV may be in doubt. This is the sort of person we should be looking at but, of course, he needs the right type of players. Gallagher anyone?

Is this the same Hassenhuttl who over the last few years has faired no better than our beloved Roy?

TBF Guiata was totally blocked off, legally apparently for the header. If Dann does not have the mobility RH shouldn’t have picked him. I agree about the performances although Brighton at home is right up there.
I am not sure if we will stay up. If we do next season could be very long.

My view is that Guaita had to be far more assertive in that situation.All-in-all it was an awful goal to concede.

Apropos Dann, I suspect that he wouldn't have played if Tomkins was fit. Both Dann and Cahill have been found wanting this season, both in the 'Twilight' of their careers.

I think the blinkers need to come off for most regarding Guita. I always rated him but the more I watch him I think he needs to be dropped. I said yesterday that he is a big reason we get battered under crosses, he stays rooted to his line and every team knows this, his shot stopping is his only plus.

No but neither have we just lost five league games in a row like Southampton.

Southampton have lost 6 games in succession in the PL, the first time in their history.
They are also the team who have dropped most points from a winning position in the PL this season - a total of 16 pts.

On the balance of 3 seasons Hassenhuttl is not much better than Roy.

For those with short memories Roy lost 7 in a row last season.
Of course it’s also possible Southampton could lose the next two as well to equal Roy’s feat.
Not sure it’s a competition they will be keen to win.

I doubt they will. We will though.

Indeed we lost 7 PL games in succession after Lockdown but perhaps the fact that we had attained sufficient points could have been a factor and/or the fixture congestion affecting players in the 'Twilight' of their careers.

Hodgson has done the job I would expect him to do with the resources available; in the same way as Pardew and Allardyce before him.
Pulis was the true miracle worker when you consider the available resources for him in our first year after promotion.
He will never be seen in the same light as Hodgson because of the way he departed and also because he wasn’t born in Croydon.
But it’s difficult to draw any other conclusion from an objective analysis of the squad he worked with compared with the squads his successors worked with.
Oh.. and he worked on defensive and offensive set pieces.
If management is defined as provision of leadership and making best use of available resources can people seriously say Hodgson has excelled in these areas over the past year?
We look rudderless and it’s time for a change at the end of the season.

I was thinking the same the other day. After Ollie's sweet shop raid in the transfer market with the likes of Kebe and Marange, the players that got us promoted without Wilf scrapped for their lives under him. Think there was a realisation that it was going to be a hard slog just to stay up that they really put in a shift. Doesn't seem to be anything like this around the club at the moment. Hopefully results like at Goodison last night might induce a few players to up their games.

Always excuses for Hodgson.
Can there not be a simple acknowledgement that his management has been found wanting this season?
I respected the job he did in his first season as I respected Luka’s performances as captain also back then.
I don’t have respect for either of their performances this season.
Football evolves and neither have been good enough in the past year.
I hope next season we have both a new manager and captain.
This is not a knee jerk reaction to a couple of defeats.
A result against Brighton won’t mask the deficiencies and will do little other than papering over the cracks.
