I was looking through some old top 40 charts the other day and it was hit after hit. There are no doubt still some superb artists around but I doubt I'd know a song in the top 40 . Commercialised and drained of character. Even the 80s has a little zaniness and individuality about it, but now it's all identikit stuff. I expect most well crafted songs never make the charts.
