Very unfortunate to lose but yet again we failed to score.
When Townsend went off we were totally unbalanced with no width at all down the right and every attack going down the left hand side.

Sadly Dann was dreadful, caught out for both goals with his lack of pace and his mobility on the turn and generally he was decidedly shaky all game.I think it is time to remove him from the team as he doesn't look like a PL defender any more.

Newcastle were very lucky to come away with a win - their second goal was even deflected in by Cahill.
Dreadfully disappointing.

Spot on Willo, I thought the same about Dann and it’s a real shame but he’s had his day now I think, and totally agree Newcastle were lucky to come away with win, only 3 mins before their second goal we had 2 chances to win the game!

We needed two more (young) attacking players and a young centre back in the summer. Absolutely glaring.

Tonight showed yet again that Roy is tactically clueless both pre-match and during the game. 3

Dann - was having a stinker all night. Almost gave away two goals in the 1st half with slack passing. He was left on and unsurprisingly was the guilty party for Wilson’s goal by getting dragged out of position and no pace to recover. Should have been subbed at HT.

Benteke- clearly we need a target man when we don’t have Wilf to run at defenders. Ayew is useless when he’s isolated up front. It’s unlikely Benteke will score but at least he’ll bring people into play and give defenders a hard time in the air. Should have come on HT.

Townsend- should only be on the pitch in tandem with Benteke. If he isn’t crossing it to somebody with half a chance of winning it, then he’s absolutely garbage. No pace, no trickery and he seems to have completely given up shooting from range. When Benteke did come on, Andros was subbed a minute later. Sums up Roy.

It’s a complete joke we let him stay after the disastrous end to last season. Hope Parish grows a pair and gets rid instead of letting him piss away the rest of the season waiting for him to retire

Newcastle had an in-form striker on the pitch, our form player was off it. In the end that was the difference between two poorly performing teams. Too many players underperforming. Second half we seemed like the team most likely to win, but if we had I wouldn't have felt any different than I do now in terms of the performance. We can argue about squad selections and tactics but years of under investment is showing. WBA won't be easy.

Our attacks mostly coming down the left is nothing new. There is no rule that says you have to attack evenly from both flanks. Townsend unbalances us when he plays because it means we have a good player on the left and a poor one on the right.

It was obvious what was wrong against Burnley.. We allowed Newcastle to dominate for the first 20,minutes the same as against Burnley. RH should realise that this is a mistake especially at home but he never seems to learn. We never replaced Cabaye who had time on the ball and made himself available for a pass in a tight spot.
Koyate played well in mid field but him and James McArthur are too similar to create opportunities for the front men. But at the end of the day we are dependent on Wilf to win games.

Yes, Dann was awful - It also didn’t help us that his mistake(s) in the 1st half didn’t put us behind. We just may have made earlier changes, including bringing on one of the two central defenders on the bench? To me, Newcastle were always the team that was going to score. I’m not at all confident that we will pick up points in matches to come - perhaps I will feel differently tomorrow but at this moment I feel we need a change to our managerial team of Hodgson and Lewington and quickly.

Perhaps the only chance with sticking with Hodgson now is to go back to the 3 defensive midfielders by bringing Luka back in alongside either Kouyate and McCarthur or McCarthy? Boring to watch but will give us more points hopefully? Would also mean the bench for Reidewald and Eze?

I just give up. Older players past their best or can last 60 mins before fatigue set in. Why not play a younger central defender alongside Cahill or Dann to develop. Missing Tompkins for sure.

Depressed.

I would like to see us sign Giroud in January on a deal until the end of the season.

In midfield, I believe John Lundstram would be a decent acquisition.

On the right we really miss an attacking full-back to provide a different dimension down that flank.

In central defence,Cahill has been sound but is in his mid 30s, Tomkins is in his 30s and hasn't played for a while.I don't have a great deal of confidence Sakho, Kelly or Dann. Another area to strengthen.

I am just so bored with it all now. A bewildered 73 year old man lacking passion and motivation, stumbling around with a team of 30 year old players, not knowing what to do to score a goal. It’s pitiful really.

Think I will give the rest of the season a miss. I cannot bear to watch it any more. Will come back next season, when Hodgson has finally given up the ghost. Not really fussed what division we are in, I just want to watch a decent game of football, with flair, attacking players and the expectation and excitement of a goal from open play.

I get more pleasure watching the U23s on a one-camera internet stream. I have enjoyed watching Southampton this year, a bunch of no-name players giving 100% to try and score goals, with a great manager who has them organised and exciting to watch - happy days for their fans.

Thanks for all your efforts Roy, but you have had your day, it’s time to pack it in. Try not to drive the club too far into the mire in the next 6 months.

Bang on mate, don’t let the idiots put you off posting this. Most have had enough of the garbage we are playing. Some obviously think it’s ok however

We are rather stuck in our ways it has to be said.
