I used to have the same hope for Jairo, big lad, but lightweight and is easily targeted by the oppositions. So sad he had promise BUT maybe a new manager will help him as when does anyone talk about Roys player development?? Com'on lads lets practice Plan A, hasnt worked yet, but it might do......." Hi all, I'm coming with my tail between my legs to admit I was wrong. Jairo has proven to be no more than an average squad player. I thought he had the goods. The technique. The vision. Maybe I was swayed by the Ajax thing. Or the odd brilliant pass he makes. But it looks like I was wrong. He's been given an extended run in the team now and he hasn't taken his chance. He'd probably do better in a higher possession team...but he lacks the fundamental work ethic and passion of a PL player. I stand corrected.

Disagree! It even seems he has lost some weight and I am glad we have a ball-playing midfielder like him.

In terms of technical ability he is probably one of our best players, but he doesn't seem to be that well suited to the way we are playing. If Roy stays or Dyche comes in then perhaps we need an alternative, but if someone like Howe comes in then I think he will thrive as he looks much better in possession than out of it. He is one of the few players that doesn't seem to misplace a pass with annoying regularity and I expect him to put in a stronger showing in the next couple of games. The other thing is he and Luka do not make a great pair as both are too slow. Next season we need someone quicker and with more energy in the middle.

Yet another average midfielder imo

But a fine example of why we probably need at least one decent midfielder. Frankly two would be advisable. Hopefully, Gallagher and someone else will freshen us up in midfield next season. Fingers crossed.

Willo, this isn't up to your normal standards in terms of clarity and precision. Who are you talking about -Gallagher or Riedewald? And when you say "It is thought", to whom are you attributing this line of thought - yourself, Roy Hodgson, the media?

In actual fact my "Normal standards" are "Sub-Standard" and in dire need of raising! I was making reference to Gallagher and I believe it is Sam Allardyce who made reference to the players goals and assists. In my judgement, Gallagher in recent games has not been at his best but I recognise his qualities in terms of his energy and tenacity.
