Indeed it has but I only bought it about 15 years ago from the British heart foundation shop in East Croydon for £40.

I originally also had a Ferguson, a studio 50D, that I thought was still in the attic but alas not 😔

What can this strange device be?

The last time I had a record player, it was part of a Saisho music centre from Dixons (early 1990's). I only had around 30 LP's.
My last memory of vinyl was getting up very early for work one morning (4am).
I put on Led Zeppelin (Physical Graffiti) and sat on the window ledge for 30 minutes, having a beer and a scchmoke, with a landscape of a dark empty street in front of me.
The world was perfect.

The day went downhill from there.

One of the greatest albums ever. I got that as a 19th birthday present from a girl I thought was the love of my life - well, she was up to that age.

I bought my first record in Boots of Ramsgate. Remember when strange shops sold records ? We had an Allders, but which only stocked top ten albums.
Boots and Woolworths sold a weird array of records in the 1970's and 80's. They all sold that weeks chart stuff, but because they weren't vinyl specialists, occasionally (amongst all the 5hlt) you'd come across an obscure/rare album for only £1-£2.
Our Price coming on the scene in the early 80's wiped out non-specialist record shops. And hiked the prices too.

I recall playing my own vinyl and thinking "All these cracks and scratches are really cr@p". And now 40 years later, I'm almost yearning for vinyl again.
I went to a record fair in Coventry in 1991 and saw a signed copy of a Faith no More, "The Real Thing". I let that slip through my fingers, as I was worried about getting it home safe on the train. BIG regret

Out of idle curiosity I've just looked it up. A Walt Disney film made in 1956 starring Fess Parker. Parker played Davy Crockett in the TV series and I suspect he was the reason we've got the record. I adored Davy Crockett and always yearned for a Buckskin suit like his.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

I have about 40 classical LPs, mostly purchased in the 1960s. I've never got round to thinking about whether they might be worth anything, and I suspect I never will.

But years ago someone told me that the condition of a disc was much less important than its rarity. Is that true?
