I'd like to see Hughes – and others – added, and soon. But we need to recognize that, with our modest resources and/or stingy owners it will always be a challenge to land our first, second, or even third favorite choices. PV is beginning to see the reality of this, but so far we've actually done well to have improved both midfield and the defense.

I think the accusation of stingy owners is used by people, who like to see other people lose their money..The owners are businessmen not fools, who don’t throw money down a bottomless pit, any deal has to be financially viable.

I read that Watford as trying to sign the Turkish player Okay (who was on loan at WBA last season) as a replacement for Hughes.
Quite ironic cos this is the player I think we should sign imstead of Hughes!

On news now couple days ago one of the articles quoted some fan post from somewhere accusing Man City of being a tin pot club because they spent 100 mill for Grealish but wouldnt pay Spurs 160 mill for Kane, my first thought was wow if your a Man City fan & you think they are tin pot then who on earth should you go & support to satisfy your dreams / illusions of being a proper club ?

This is not just a simple case of, resources, let alone stingy owners.
Resources do though play a big part, as it now looks as though the club has dumped a large number of first team potential , without the resources to replace as many of them as is needed.
Two or three could still come , whether they will be what we really need because of lack of resources may be the case. If we do spend money and get decent targets , it was all brinkmanship, and so forever onwards.

At the moment I feel that we are a bit like Brighton in so much as we have trimmed the squad, gone for youth over experience but remain needing some time to gel & are a window or two & a several players away from being a decent team - only time will tell if we can get those players this year or next & if we will be able to survive during this period of transition

If the Athletic, are to be believed, and they are often right, Hughes is as good as over the line. £6 mill creeping to ten with a load of if,s.
He should be well worth having.IMO.

Yep a good price for a player with good experience who'll add some much needed guile and decent passing ability to the midfield.

Now let's focus on a couple of attackers.

Yer, Sky have it now, medical tomorrow, let’s hope that there is one or two more forward types , that haven’t hit the headlines coming by Tuesday.

... and that... but just one versatile fullback would do. Really is such a pain that Ferguson has had so many problems. He'd have provided great cover/competition for both flanks.

Apart from the odd sour grapes it seems most Watford fans rate him which is a good sign. Still only in his mid-twenties and can pass the ball, the latter point being the most important. I do wonder where this leaves Jairo though. I had hopes he would blossom under Vieira, but he seems to lack any sort of intensity and he didn't even start in the cup.

If the fee thats being quoted is correct then this is a very decent signing.

I wouldn't worry too much about Jairo - he does offer cover in several areas so I still think he has an important role within the squad.

Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.
