I've seen reports that most people in hospital on oxygen or worse are unvaccinated so its likely you are correct.
Good luck and hope you feel better soon.

Thanks mate, I’m one of the lucky ones, it’s just felt like a cold, and not even the worst cold I’ve had. In fact the only reason I’m in bed with it is to keep out the way of the rest of the family. Also my isolation finishes Xmas Eve which is good timing

My wife is a nurse and she tells me that the vast majority of severe Covid patients in her hospital are unvaccinated

The same anecdote I keep hearing/reading, yet the figure I think might be correct is 40%. Disproportionate, yes. The vast majority? I doubt it. Would everyone vaccinated relieve pressure on the NHS? I expect so. Should future freedom be based on health service pressure. What do you think?

I wonder if players would have a different view if they were (already) on pay as you play rather than smothered in luxury and paid regardless of performance and professionalism.

Wonder how this sort of thing is viewed by the insurance companies that underwrite the players contract health insurances for the clubs -

Would the club be able to say to the players - get vaccinated because our insurers are insisting on it ? (for example)

Young, fit and healthy professionals making an informed decisions about their body not to be vaccinated! Over somthing that has less than a 1 percent morality rate of dying! And long term side effects unknown!

I do not see the problem here!

He said her hospital. No doubt it varies by region. It appears London is a particular hot spot for unvaccinated covid hospitalisations.

True. But they’ve lost their competitiveness due to covid infections and will have to play rearranged fixtures crammed closer together. It’s not much of a surprise that Liverpool, where the players are desperate to play, they’re all vaccinated.

And incidentally, can we be spared any future hypocrisy over any more political or social issues - many will be going to a World Cup in Qatar with horrendous human rights laws. Oh and the covid/vax situation could get really interesting then.

You do not include long covid. In particular you don’t consider to whom such people transmit the virus. Eventually almost everyone will have had Omnicron, it would be good to delay that until doctors have better ways to treat it and hospitals aren’t already full. At the moment this is heading to a dreadful NewYear.

Indeed. I’m surprised a hospital in or near Truro has ‘the vast majority’ of its patients unvaccinated, seeing how they view the rest of the country infecting them in the summer. A lot of Lib Dem voters so could explain it. Unsure of vax rate down there. Parts of London are near zero, yes.

It is pretty clear now that regardless if you are vaccinated or not you can still catch, spread and transmit the virus just as easily as unvaccinated.

Sooner or later we will have to get on with our lives and actually cop onto ourselves! Other wise it's the same s*** every year or few months once "cases" rise. It's the same if 100 percent of people are vaxxed! Still have cases and new variants and s***e!

It isn’t pretty clear now that regardless if you are vaccinated or not you can still catch, spread and transmit the virus just as easily as unvaccinated. And if it was, you’re less likely to become infected to pass it on. This is separate to whatever your view is on actions and restrictions.
