Everton are currently a club with no agenda. They are too strong to go down, but due to history and past achievements believe they should be in the top six. Hence the panic buying and constant manager turnover.

Plus a new 500M state of the art stadium slated to open in a couple of years.........

The transfers have been amazing. Is it possible to do worse? I've just started remembering some of ours....but we're past that, hopefully.

Everton should be a salutary lesson for Newcastle, whose fans must be particularly stupid believing as they do that now they've got money, success is inevitable. That said, Newcastle's owners can hardly be less competent than Moshiri, though paying £25 million for Chris Wood is arguably a good start in trying to prove otherwise.

The lesson for our fans in all this is (and it particularly pertains to the constant sniping at our American owners by some here) is that chucking cash around is not the mark of competent ownership. That can be best judged by stability and progress over the long-term. I'd far rather have a pair of quiet Americans who back Parish to the hilt and spend sensibly only when the need arises than a pair of gaudy zillionaires who chuck money around on anything and everything without a second thought. Some people should be careful what they wish for. There are Palace supporters who seem not to know just how good we have it at the moment.

Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God.

I fondly remember my visit to Goodison Park, and being told by an Everton supporter that we would go down. When I asked which teams would go down with us he said he would like us to go down with Liverpool.

A bit like when Simon Jordan asked who the fans would like him to appoint as manager then promptly appointed Trevor Francis who came bottom in the poll

I was at the fans forum in The Stephenson’s Lounge chaired by Trevor Francis just before he signed Akinbiyi. Fans pleaded with him not to sign him.

Everton DOF Marcel Brands left Everton in December. Before him there was Steve Walsh. He’s a chief scout and was at Chelsea over 15 years ago. After that he was DOF at Newcastle where he followed Nigel Pearson everywhere as chief scout including Hull and Leicester, where he scouted all their league title winning players. Just after that title he left for Everton. They made some bad signings from his scouting and so didn’t sign several relatively unknown players that went onto have big careers - Hull duo Andy Robertson and Harry Maguire for a combined £20 million and teenage Norwegian striker Erling Haaland.

I got this on Steve Walsh from Wikipedia because it’s brief, but I knew of him at Everton anyway. It gives enough information about why they’ve gone wrong. The DOF choices and possibly not sticking with Walsh and his proven track record.

What happened to all the pant wetting after 4 games over letting Andros Townsend go to Everton? It was seriously basic football for these times so I’m not surprised other teams shut them out.

That's certainly not what the Newcastle fans that I know are thinking

Everton will have to appoint Big Duncan because nobody else will take the job right now except maybe Ian Dowie!

There's always 'Sam Allardycez' probably lounging on a sunbed in Dubai waiting for the call toying with Everton's new defence on a A4 pad!!!

Step up Duncan Ferguson, yet again.

It's become a 'nice little earner'.

Regular, stress-free employment between sackings.

It's much better than having all the hassle of being the manager proper and nobody expects too much of you anyway.
