In a few months our footballers will be playing in Qatar, a country much like our own. Some of those involved will be Palace players for what it's worth. It has been suggested that the players 'speak out' and condemn the odious regime, some suggesting that they should refuse to play in solidarity with human and sexual rights. Others argue that they are merely footballers not politicians and should stay out of it and keep quiet. This sounds fair but if that is the case then why are they still kneeling before every game to show how much they care and, oddly, why are EFL players not kneeling?
Is it because they, to a man, don't care or is it because they haven't been told to do it?
