Yesterday was painful to take , any last minute goal against any team you support hurts, however , after a kip I’ve woken up a bit more optimistic , we’ve scored late goals this season to win or nick a draw , this season against West Ham and Man Utd , it’s sickening to concede so late but that’s football and an away point against a very good Brentford side I do not think any palace fan would have turned that down before the game , at 4.50pm if you offered me a point I would have spat in your face but still a point is a point.
I saw a poster say that Eze needs to be first name on team sheet going forward , I absolutely agree with that, yes he can go missing at times , so can Wilf but it only takes 1 bit of magic from him to turn a game on its head ,

Anderson was fantastic , what a gem we have there !
I’m concerned we now have an injury to Mitchell not sure how bad it is ?

I’m not sure what to do up front , Mateta just doesn’t fit in this side , we’ve seen he does have quality but he seems to fall over hisself or lose the ball between his legs , however he is a nuisance to defenders where as Edouard can be marked out of a game,

Zaha looks to be out for the Liverpool game aswell so I think we start with same lineup apart from putting eze in for schlupp and richards in for Mitchell ,

I have no doubt we are in a relegation battle regardless of viera saying he’s not worried about it but I do think we have done enough and will do enough again in remaining games to keep our heads above water ,

Southampton winning yesterday worried me, Bournemouth not so much as wolves are pony aswell but I had Southampton and Bournemouth bankers to go along with hoping Leeds fall , however that result will really energise saints now , so there is still 3 places up for grabs and I believe anyone from 20th up to us isn’t safe and will be a really big fight , Liverpool and Chelsea havnt helped the relegation battle getting beat by anyone Willy nilly, and Fulham Brentford and Brighton going on this Amazing run and being where they are has meant that anyone is really beating anyone , it really could be a high points total to stay up this season! Normally there is a team or two rock bottom who you can write off but you really can’t write anyone off this season.
I thought we played with a bit of passion yesterday , and that’s what we need , with McCarthur and Zaha to come back will only help with this ,

We need a win, one win and our tails will be up that’s what made conceding so late yesterday gutting all the more , but we will be ok ,

West Ham to lose today and we will all feel a bit better? Right?

COYP

With Mitchell and Zaha possibly out I would try something different as we’ve got nothing to lose. I’d play Schlupp left wing back and Ayew right wing back and play Richards, Guehi, Anderson in a back 3.

I’d put Doucoure and Lokonga in the middle and Eze, Edouard and Olise playing a fluid 3 up top in attack with Eze, Olise dropping back to midfield when defending.

Bit different, but might be worth a go.

I like that, i would have McArthur, if fit, instead of Lokonga

Would love to see that but will never happen ,

I echo your sentiments about there being no bankers for relegation, but I do think Vieira (it is turning out) has a similar pragmatism to Roy in that it seems the first priority is 'don't get beat'. That does mean that when we are the underdogs we play like it, but it has also meant we've continued to steadily pick up points even in tough fixtures. Given we've picked up points in this really tough run of games it is hard to imagine we won't pick up at least another dozen points from our remaining fixtures whether through luck, hard work, or some divine intervention.

Personally I'm not sure how much we'll miss Mitchell as he's been average at best in many games this season. Despite not being at his best in many games I think we also have to accept that Wilf is still far and away our player most likely to score from open play. I had hoped someone else might step up in his absence, but Olise isn't quite there yet and Eze has struggled for form, while as you say, Mateta has been poor. I imagine most PL managers feel more confident when they don't see Zaha on our team sheet. Thankfully it seems he should at least be back for when we start playing the teams below us.

The viera/ hodgson not getting beat thing is that because we just don’t have the squad? Last season wasn’t like that, it really does show how much we miss Gallagher on my opinion

Spot on and that is why next weekend we will highly likely be beaten again by the Scousers. A similar opening eleven as yesterday, unable to provide anything in attack. Echo others sentiments on here for the manager to try something different in attack.

PV should get his old team mate Ian Wright down a few times a week to work with the strikers. He would improve Eduard, Mateta and Ayew with their finishing and runs in the box etc.

I do feel that 2 deeper midfielders would allow Eze to do what he's good at. Give him a free role, let him switch around with Éduoard/Olise/Zaha or whomever is out there and make it awkward for defenders to know who they're marking. We really lack creativity, and yet have flair players who are very capable. I kind of wish we'd just have a really solid back 6 or so, and then let the flair players do their thing.

Ayew at wing back does make sense, as he does have a lot of qualities, but his inability to score completely undermines all the effort he puts in. His continual selection also keeps another more capable goal scorer out of the side.

None of our front line was ever going to score yesterday. At best, one of them might grab a goal, but that's about it. The prospect of us scoring two or three a game is a million miles away with the energy levels at present, and yet we are a club who own Zaha, Olise, Éduoard and Eze. As individuals they're capable of 7 to 15 goals each throughout a league season, and that's being conservative. It frustrates that we can't find a system that works with them.

I think Éduoard is massively under utilised. Zaha's been out for weeks, and he's still not been picked, yet he's still scored three times as many as Ayew.

Our squad is limited, but we have a good first eleven in there. I still just about believe we have a good manager, but I just don't get why he's doing the things he's doing.

Yesterday I felt slightly ashamed of myself for publicly predicting a 3:0 defeat. Thankfully I was completely wrong, but I blame Vieira for having me question my own team. Back in the early days of the current Premier League era, we'd come up against Chelsea or Man Utd etc, and I knew there was potential to be hit for 3 or 4. But conversely, I was always confident that we could nick a 1:0.

We have better players now than we had back then, but they worked f***ing hard, and we knew they were as fit as any £50m signing the opposition had. Now, I'm not so sure. And the problem is, if they can't run, and they're not very fit, then it's unlikely any formation will fix things.

Did Edouard even touch the ball yesterday?
What has happened to him?
I don’t recall him sprinting even once.
