If it’s a sensor operated barrier then it should let you out and you will get a window of time probably up to midnight to pay. By then a signal will be available I’m sure.

The test turned out to be institutionally racist somehow according to The Guardian.

We've had this for years, generally to warn you about adverse weather conditions or if a child has been abducted where they'll give you a brief description/ licence plate etc

We had them in Florida for warnings about tornadoes (which can form very quickly) and so I can understand that 150mph vortices need to be warned about…but I am a cynic and so I can see it being used to tell you not to go outside if you haven’t paid your council tax that month.
I used to love the Silver Alerts that Florida dishes out both on phones and overhead gantries…basically asking for info when an OAP has driven off and has forgotten how to get home…

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

It's bound to cause a heart attack or two. What a way to go.

It's not the worst idea in the world mind you, in case of genuine disaster.

Maybe not but the one I got was warning of extreme rain. After a few hours expecting an apocalyptic deluge the slight shower than followed was quite disappointing.

It seems a sensible idea the media are complaining as usual but they would be the first to be up in arms if a disaster happened and the government was accused of failing to warn people.

This is a test of the technology how they use it is another matter.

If you search your settings with 'emergency alerts' you should be able to turn it off.

I have a routine android device it was that simple.

It's intended to warn you of an imminent disaster - namely that the Weeds might beat Man Ure and get to the FA Cup final.

When you hear the emergency alert next time it will be polling day,
and you will find yourself voting conservative.
