We did play ok, but considering Spurs have been awful of late and hadn't kept a clean sheet since February we all maybe expected a bit more. My comment about it not being 50/50 was perhaps a bit misleading, what I meant was that Spurs carved out the clearest chances and took them. Our chances were really half chances. The stats back this up with Palace having an XG (expected goals) of 0.3 and Spuds having 1.1. If it had ended a draw I don't think anyone would have argued it would have been a fair result, but based on the type of chances Spurs created they had just had enough to edge it. Let's call it 55/45!

In the final anaylsis, Tottenham have Harry Kane up front and we have Jordan Ayew !

I will add that Ayew has performed with greater aplomb since the return of Mr Hodgson and has scored goals so credit to him.My comment was to highlight the difference in quality between the players.

Spurs had a game plan which they played out to perfection, something similar to the Dirty Leeds of the 70s , yesterday they were ably assisted by the officials including the Lino who was banned for 1 game for chinning Robertson and seemed as though he wanted to offer Olise out yesterday during the second half

He was NOT banned as a punishment, he was suspended pending an investigation.Having reviewed the footage and taken statements, the FA deemed that no further action would be taken.

Invariably, supporters have a proclivity to only lacerate officials when their team has been defeated, a victory and not a murmur of discontent.

Win, lose or draw the ref as in most matches this season was very poor. Also, I’m not sure how they can handle these teams that cheat so much in today’s football. At pace it’s hard to spot a player chucking themselves to the ground when they haven’t been touched? Technology is there but not yet for this? And as for the rugby tackle on Wilf that to me deserved more than a yellow - perhaps a sin bin for challenges that aren’t a red but a bit more than a yellow?

We've beaten all the top 6 home and away in the league apart from spurs away, bogey side.

Sorry, just have to call you out on this and to avoid the 'Willo thread' suggest no more on the subject.

Willo, you have a proclivity to defend the referee on 100% of all occasions no matter how bad the referee performed or how bad decisions were. I cannot recall one solitary post of the 100s you have posted on the subject where you wrote that the referee was bad or wrong. Therefore, we all know your opinion on this particular topic.

When we do get a poor decision, in our favour, many on here are quick to say so. I think in general other posters on Hol make reasonably fair comments about the officials.

which means the FA felt a 1 match suspension was adequate for his misdemeanor

You really are deluded, as Elpis says we have equal chances with them, 8 shots too 7, what we dont have is a decent CF who can make runs and stretch the play, and a left winger although captain who had no intention of helping his fullback.

I wrote a longer reply, but to keep it simple, their keeper didn't have to make one difficult save. He had one shot that went straight at him with limited pace from Olise and one from Doucoure which he dived comfortably to save. I think even my mum could have saved those two. All the other chances were scrappy and not clear. Personally I thought we were ok in the first half and lost direction in the second when Spurs shut up shop.

I really like Roy but echoes of his previous reign were on show yesterday. With no pressure on the game it took him until the 85th minute to bring on a striker and he replaced Schlupp (who scores) with Hughes (who doesn't).

I will only make one riposte to the comments to avoid a dastardly 'Willo thread'.

I have consistently stated that officials, being human beings,DO err from time to time as do players and managers, but any 'Faux Pas' can be filed under 'Honest' and not out of any bias towards a team.

I certainly do not support some of the lacerating against referees on HOL,and I suspect other sites, making accusations of incompetence and cheating etc etc.
I have spoken to referees who have officiated at the top-level, accordingly I do have a perspective of their task.

This is my final post on this Thread on the subject of referees for the reason I have highlighted.

With respect, he was suspended pending an investigation. He was not pre-judged and culpability was not attached to him at that juncture. Following the investigation process, the FA deemed that NO action would be taken against him.

A Spurs season ticket holder got on our train to Brighton. He thought that two people made the difference for them on the day. Harry Kane and the referee.

My thoughts were that for the first time since Roy's return, we were playing a top level team. And we came up short. Spurs players play acting was frustrating and embarrassing but it ensured we were rarely able to sustain any momentum to our play. Aided and abetted by the officials that were taken in by it.

I also didn't think that Zaha looked 100% fit.
